On 18 December 2007, Mrs. Oldgringo submitted her Instructor reviewed application. On 4 January 2008, the state of Texas cashed her check. One month ago today, 18 April 2008, Mrs. Oldgringo submitted her fourth (4th) and FAST taken set of fingerprints. She still has not received her CHL.

Any suggestions?

Maybe sending a letter with timeline and other details to Governor Perry would help? That is waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy too long, particularly for an instructor renewal. It's not like they never heard of your wife before. You would think that such cases would actually take far less than the mandated time limit.

You're certainly welcome, although it looks like I misread your original post. I thought you had written that she was renewing an instructor's application. It must be the "end of weekend" dyslexia setting in.

All the same, 150 days is plain old unacceptable.

I wish you luck with your endeavor, just remember according to DPS, your time starts over if your packet was recieved incomplete, and they had to ask for something; in Mrs. Oldgringo's case that would be "unreadable" fingerprints. (please correct me if I'm wrong on anything)
I thought I saw you posting earlier that you had arleady done a FAST set with her. If this one gets rejected, I would call and ask for a specific reason as to why they are being rejected, and while still trying to be polite, don't let them give you the generic answer that you've probably been given for each of the past rejects. Make sure that it's something like, "The index finger on her left hand was only a partial print" or something like that.

E-mail is much akin to verbal conversation and therefore easy to delete or deny. The next correspondence, starting tomorrow, will be in writing. There will be a written record of who said and did, or did not do, what.

Remember this: "If it's not in writing, it didn't happen".

Remember this: "If it's not in writing, it didn't happen".

Actually if the Governor deletes any emails he could be impeached for destroying public documents. Anything you send to the Governor are stored and accessible to the public. Also, your emails are more likely to be read that a hard copy letter because emails are more efficient to read.

Received an e-mail today after e-mails sent to Austin yesterday: "The fingerpinrts were accepted this go around. Your background checks have come back as of today. Your license should be issued soon".

The website still says PROCESSING APPLICATION. Hard copy letters (6) go out tomorrow. Enough is enough and 150+ days is uncalled for, unreasonable and way too much.

That is an unreasonably long amount of time, but it sounds as Mrs. O will be receiving her CHL soon. Hope she hasn't been holding her breath.

We background check cannot be done until a good set of fingerprints have been received. We cannot issue a license until all steps of the process has been completed. This includes background investigations.

Above is this morning's e-mail from CHS. Does anyone know what it means in light of yesterday's e-mail? I'd somehow read yesterday's e-mail to say that her CHL had, at long last, been approved. Maybe so - maybe not, who knows?
