Greg, the class C on agricultural land is only if he is within 100 feet of the boundary when caught. Catch him further in and it goes up to B or A as in any other trespass.
Good point though. I had forgotten about it.

Re: Mad? Confused? Thankful?
We didn't actually know what the charges would be or the result of those charges would be. We've had several deputies ask if we wanted to press charges, and so far we've just said no, just escort them off please. The only times we've actually had deputies write people tickets were twice, when we caught people actually dumping trash. They wrote tickets and made them clean it up. I drove by to check on the place yesteday. It was windy as heck here, so I didn't go down inside. I just took a couple of pics from the entrance. Here's the pit! I'll put up some good pics when we go shoot next time. One is a close up of one of the shooting tables we built with a shelter over it. It's actually MUCH bigger than it looks in the pics. There's a deep end that would be off to the right. There's another shooting bench down there, along with a rock fire ring, and an old park BBQ pit we cemented into the ground. It's about 30 feet down in that end. Last year, when we had so much rain, it was almost half full! We put my brother's little 14 foot john boat down in there.
Edited to add aerial pic from Mapquest.

Agree 100%G.A. Heath wrote:Something about these two deputies was not on the level, and they need some retraining. here's why I say this:
1: They felt you were a threat (actions and equipment), yet had no backup on scene prior to their approach.
2: Their overall demeanor as posted shows a disregard for the public image of their department (Important because their boss is elected in Texas).
3: Their handling of your guns (and probably theirs) in an unsafe manner.
4: The fact they did not tell you why they were there in the first place (this should have been done early in the encounter).
5: The fact the rancher (land owner) was never given the reason LE was on his property
