If you are later than the law allows then you SHOULD complain; everyone should.

DPS excuses that they don't have enough manpower don't cut is since they either NEED more and the Reps can help with that, or they have enough and need to prioritize these.

Either way, the law sets a limit and that needs to be respected just like your respect the CHL regulations when you carry.
:iagree: Well, that is what I thought. I don't know why anyone would get upset over that.

How else would you think of it?

Everyone's application should be in a queue based on arrival.

Someone complains to their rep and theirs gets pulled out and given special attention while those that were ahead of it in the queue are delayed.

DPS should obey the law -- and if they don't you and everyone else should get your Rep after them until they (have enough manpower and) do obey the law.

It is in no way "cutting in line" to demand the law be enforce. He didn't call and say, "put me ahead of Sam or Sally" -- just asked to get the PROBLEM fixed.

What would you call it then? Applications arrive and get serviced on a first come, first serve basis. CB's rep calls down there throwing some weight around. Regular Joe gets shoved to the side so CB's application can get worked. Why is this fair? HOW on earth is there anything right about this happening? I think it is a great idea to send a letter to your State rep as a general sign of displeasure with the system. I just think it is wrong for that to allow you priority processing over the rest of us. I would love to see this practice in the grocery store. Can you imagine the reaction if some lamer at Tom Thumb complained about how long the line was so the store manager told the checker to stop checking out the person they are serving at the time and take care of Mr. Lamer? OK then...LOL.

The problem will be fixed during the 2009 legislative session. The publicity and outrage has gotten them a dozen temp employees, as I understand.

The problem occurred because DPS budget was set during the 2007 session, but based on numbers from 2005-2006.

Nothing more than the temp employee bandaid can be done.

DPS is digging themselves out of a hole. They didn't create the problem but are dealing with it as best they can.

I'm sure it feels good to gripe but it won't help the situation any.

Again, those of you fortunate enough to 'throw some weight around' do so at the expense of everyone else.

Try to justify it all you want. It doesn't change the fact that anyone doing this knows for a fact that they are getting moved up ahead of others because they are calling in the State Rep.

People!!! Please!!! Let's not try to put some kind of sick twisted "honorable spin" on this game. I have already spent time talking to the folks down in Austin. I know what is happening. The rep from the DPS already told me they are all getting fed up with the "special" attention garnered by state reps. You should hear the cool words they have for describing you. CB is nothing...LOL. Like I said..this game of every dawg for himself is going to come to an end right quick. When 100 people a month have a rep saying do my guy first...they can't move all of you up front.

Again...i think complaining to the state rep about the general wait time is cool. Getting moved to the front of the line because you do it is CRAPPOLA.

You misunderstand -- he is not asking to "go ahead in the line" but rather, as you should do too, asking The Management to fix the problem by putting on more cashiers.

IF you let an agency infringe your rights then they will -- DPS has good people they probably need more manpower but that is up to the management to either pay for or to straighten out the problem.

And sometimes, if you don't complain -- especially in a state bureaucracy -- no one who can take action will know there is a problem.

DPS must obey the law too.

You know, the irony of all this is that the problem was created by and exists because of the very legislators that everyone is calling for help.

Had they given DPS an adequate budget, none of this would be happening!

I understand he didn't ask to be moved up. That makes it even worse!!!! It should not be happening. Nobody should get moved up ahead of others because they complain about the wait. Who we kidding here...I believe the ones writing the rep are doing it just for the hopes of getting personal preferential treatment. If not ...Great!

You can believe what you want about their motives, but EVERYONE should get moved up until they are delivering them on time, according to the law.

They put a time limit on issuance specifically to prevent "slow walking" by bureaucrats or under funding by legislatures.

And yes, they can move EVERYONE UP FRONT Simply by making sure they are all on time.

Everyone should get theirs on time -- and everyone should complain when they go 1 hour over.

I did not contact my rep on behalf of myself, I emailed her to see what can be done concerning the problem DPS has in keeping up. I did not expect, nor do I expect any special treatment at the expense of others.

From your response, I get the impression you are missing my point. I agree...everyone should boohoo and cry like a baby over the wait. Even though we all know there is nothing they can do about it at the moment. They will fix it at the next budget session. For now...I have issue with the special treatment being given to the CB's. It is wrong to move them ahead of other who have been waiting longer. That's all...nothing personal against the CB's...heck...I might even do the CB bit myself. I just don't like the DPS feeling pressured to screw over the rest of us in an attempt to muzzle the CB.

LOL...if you really mean that. Send an email to your rep stating that in no uncertain terms do you want your application being moved up the list to facilitate your complaint.

I need to remember sarcasm is not easily conveyed over the internet (post edited)...

I agree there should be a FIFO system in place but the randomness of recent approvals leads me to believe otherwise. :txflag: I have called only once on June 11th and plan to call again this week. No messages to representatives yet, I figure I will save that for day 160.
