Crossbreed Supertuck IWB review

#1

Post by mrvmax »

I just purchased a Crossbreed Super-Tuck IWB holster. I have owned Comp-Tac C-Tac, Hoffner, Galco, Smart Carry and a few other holsters. The price is right at $65.50 and I received mine in 6 days. I was going to order a Minotaur, but Comp-Tac doesn't show on their web site that they make one for the Sig 2022 (Ie-mailed them but after 2 weeks haven't received an answer). The quality seems good, the holster comes with a lifetime warranty so I do not have to worry about anything going wrong. I also like the fact that the owner is Christian and I believe in supporting other Christian owned businesses.
One thing different about this holster is that the eyelets to adjust cant have prongs that dig into the leather making them secure. The other holsters I used were just regular screwed eyelets. The holster is more comfortable than I thought it would be. I just got it today so I haven't worn it long, but sitting in my car I could hardly tell it was there. I am used to carrying my XDSC in an all Kydex holster and the Super-Tuck is 100% better.
I will add updates as I wear if more. I do not foresee having any issues and I'm sure I will buy another CrossBreed in the future. There are some pics on Flickr:http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrvmax/

Thanks for the review. I just ordered a Supertuck yesterday, for my XD9sc. I'll give my input here as well after using for a week or so.

It hasn't been a week yet but here is where Im at so far. I've had my Supertuck on for about 10 hours so far today. I've adjusted it a few times trying to find just the right spot. So far the only spot buggin me is the front bottom corner of the leather is digging into my upper leg/hip area a bit too much. I can't seem to get that adjusted out yet. Im hoping some leather conditioner/break in time will remedy that problem.

Concealment is awesome!

It will eventually break in. When I got mine (8 months ago), the leather was nice and flat, and it was pretty stiff. Today, it is very well contoured to my body. Give it a week or so, and you'll notice the difference.

Alright, I have been wearing mine for a while now and I like this holster. I used to carry a G27 or Springfield XDSC to have a small handgun for carry. Now I can carry my Sig 2022 in full comfort. In fact, it is more comfortable than carrying my XDSC. The leather has conformed to my body and fits well. I did run into one problem and it was a major one. The mag release on my 2022 gets pressed by the holster and releases the mag while I'm sitting. It took me a while to realize how my mag release ws getting pressed. I will say that it is due to gun design and body design (my body). Perhaps the extra insulation presses the holster against the release. I just reversed the mag release and have no problem. It doesn't even bother me using my index finger to drop the magazine, I just need to ensure that I do not forget so I will be practicing so I can ingrain it into my mind.
I am happy with this purchase and will probably not carry a subcompact for a while. Anyone want to buy an XD?

Thanks for the review. I have been thinking about getting a tuckable holster, but I haven't made up my mind as to which one to buy yet and your review was helpful.

Thanks,

Does anyone know if they make this holster for a Kimber UC II?

My super tuck deluxe just arrived today. I cannot say how pleased I am with this holster! It is extremely comfortable and I know it will only get better. Holds my HK perfectly in place and perfectly concealed. I couldn't be happier.

Welcome to the world of left handers.

I own a couple of Galcos, one for my 3" Kimber, and one for my USP Compact, but neither is tuckable, and I've been looking at the Comp-Tac Minotaur - one for the Kimber, with an extra Minotaur body for the USP.

You say you've owned Comp-Tacs before. Do you think that the Crossbreed is really that much more comfortable than the Minotaur; or is more a matter of the price difference (about $20)? Any input would be appreciated.

Right side mag release not just for lefties!

I am right handed with little hands. I have my mag releases on the right side of my guns. It is a lot faster to drop my mag using my middle finger then to rotate my grip to use my strong hand thumb or use my support hand to release the mag on the left side. I took a half a second off my reload times by doing this.

If you are still considering a IWB holster this is the one to get.I love the response I always get when you have a question for them. They always seem to get back to you in 24 hours.Great customer service!I wanted to make everyone aware that Corssbreed is now making belts. The big difference is they custom make each belt.If you are a bigger guy { like me } it is hard to find a carry belt that will fit.I emailed Mark and he said they will make any size belt that is ordered. He said they have made all the way up to 72" so far.Although I do not need a 72" { WOW! } it is nice to know there is a company out there who will help us big boys out! I have 2 Crossbreed Supertuck's. The one for my LCP is incredibly comfortable. The one for my G19 has the same problem as mrvmax. I did have a grip reduction and extended mag release done on the G19. I don't want to hijack this tread so I will start another concerning this problem.

Emailed them a question and they emailed me back in about 4 hours.
Ordered mine a few days ago and he said it should be here in around 1 1/2 weeks. Can't wait!

I hesitated getting this holster as I thought about the old SNL saying, "it's better to look good then to feel good" but then I figgered, oh well, no one is supposed to look at it anyway. Can't wait to wear it around the house as I wait on Austin for my plastic...
