I think you mean the CX4 Storm if you're talking about a rifle and if they are anywhere near as flawless and accurate as the PX4 it has to be a nice gun.

Uh, no. The CX4 is a carbine rifle:



The PX4, though STYLED similarly, is a pistol, a variant of the 9x series with the rotating bolt lockup but drastically different styling:



Now, they are generally considered part of the same "weapons system", kind of like the FN P90 and FN Five-seveN are marketed together. The two guns share mags (with a simple adapter in the carbine) and thus the idea is that you can go for the carbine for medium range or storming a house, with your pistol as backup, and no matter what you have the mags you're carrying work.

In practice, I've seen more interest in the CX4 as a range toy. It's a tack driver, true enough (it's got pip sights inspired by the M16) and the 9mm version uses the second-cheapest ammo available commercially next to .22. It can also be a good home defense weapon; it's compact, uses pistol ammo so recoil is relatively low, and you don't have to worry as much about overpenetration. As far as LEOs, Dallas SWAT has stuck with the AR15 and .40-cal Glocks.

my buddy had a CX4. he sold it to finance a new firearm purchase, and now regrets getting rid of it. it's a nice shooter. good trigger. the peep sights are easy to use and have 2 settings for close, far range. easy to take down for cleaning. easy to shoot well. at 50yds with the irons we could keep all shots on a paper plate. at 100 yds keeping all shots on a man-size target was not too hard either. if my buds CX4 was in .40 or .45 I woulda been the new owner.

There are different models, but no adapter is required.

The CX4 comes in the "92" version that takes Beretta 92 Magazines and the "PX4" version that takes the Beretta PX4 Storm Magazines. Both come in 9mm and .40 caliber.

I have one in 9mm. Believe it or not but a guy traded me even for a Tec9 I didnt want. The Storm is a great shooting little rifle, never jammed and plugs bullseye at 75 yds about every time. Can be made left or right handed as well. Mine came with a barrel shroud that greatly improves its appearance. I hate skinny little barrels sticking way out.

I thought about SBR'ing the rifle but it I didnt want to kill the accuracy and looks good to me with the shroud. And it was cheaper.

It may be true now that there is no adapter, but when the PX4 came out I called Beretta and was told the magazines did not interchange but would work with an adapter.

Also, when the CX4 came out, it was offered in the (then) Beretta Cougar platform and the 92/96 platform. So an uninformed customer might buy the wrong one. The .45 was only offered in the Cougar platform and the only mag offered was the 8 round pistol mag.

Since the Cougar was vanquished to Stoeger, this may be why they offer a PX4 version.

Didnt know all that, mine takes regular 9mm 92 mags. I have a 20rd that sticks out some from the bottom but normal ones fit flush.

I have a CX4 in 9mm that I love to shoot. Little to no recoil, accurate as can be, easy to clean, it is ambidextrous, and its cheap to shoot. I didn't see any other small caliber carbines that were less than $1000 and were no cheap looking. The fit and finish is top notch too. I also have a PX4 in 9mm and the magazines are NOT interchangeable without the adapter. 20rd Beretta 92 magazines are everywhere, but PX4 magazines will cost you. I love it, but I also would like to unload it for another firearm purchase or trade in the near future.

I have one in .45 that is very accurate with a cheapie red dot sight on it, and even better with the peeps. If I had it to do over, I would have gone with the 9mm for capacity and it would be cheaper to shoot, but Im addicted to .45s and its a hard addiction to control. After 50 yards, the drop is very quick. Ive taken hogs with it, but mostly just killed paper. Wouldnt get rid of it for anything.
