FW homeowner gives burglars a surprise...

Post by RKirby »

Seems a local firearms instructor had his nap interrupted by a home invasion / burglary today.

Watch the video. :thumbs2:

Wow. From the look of it, he was awake, up, and with his weapon in hand and trained on them in around a second. I bet those dudes are gonna think twice before they kick in someone's door again. :evil2:

As a side note, if you go past the report to the next video and turn the volume way up, you can hear people talking as they're making video (appears to be with a camera pointed at the security screen at his house) for the report. It sounds like the homeowner talking to the guys about the video and queuing it to specific spots of the video for them.

Looks like a 6" 1911 that he used as his defense weapon.

As another aside, the reporter says that his "instincts kicked in" when they knocked down his door. I'm going to have to disagree and say it was his training that kicked in. :fire

Good for the homeowner. Anyone catch the fact that his pistol was an AMT Automag? Don't see those every day.

Good outcome and some postitive PR for gun owners :thumbs2: . Of course they never referred to him as a "victim", but it's better than most such news coverage.

The second guy that came up to the door had his face covered with his hand on his approach. Then, when he backed up a bit near the camera he did not cover his face.......

This kinda tells me that he knew there was a camera but was incorrect in judging what the range of the camera was. I bet he knew more about the house than a random person would have known.

Indeed. I haven't seen one of those long slide AMTs in years.

At least he held his words at the end. I winced for a second thinking he was going to say something else. His answer was very good however:

Had they confronted me, there would have been a "sound"

Kudos to him.

 He's a big guy too, and I had never seen that gun before, quite intimidating. I wish one of the guys would have tripped on the way out, that would have been great haha

I'm not leaving the "lights on" for my wife anymore.
I kinda was giving it some thought "hey if someone sees the outside lights on during the day; then that's a sign there's nobody home" :grumble

But she insists!

And on another note, I'm glad this guy didn't open fire while the "movers" were making their escape. :fire
That would have brought a load of legal trouble and fees on the firearms instructor.

But then again there's two people out there stealing my oxygen :headscratch

It ended nicely overall.
