Dallas Pistol Club

#1

Post by KFP »

I know that there are at least a few DPC members here, and probably some who have shot matches there. I'm just curious about the Real World Gun and Personal Protection matches and what to expect with them. My biggest question is what to expect in terms of round count and general things as a guy who hasn't shot in a match before? Thanks!

Bring at least 3 magazines, and 2 magazine pouches for your belt

Eye and ear protection (mandatory)
Ball cap (optional)
100-125 rounds of ammunition

Registration at 930AM, match starts at 1000AM

MATCH OPERATION
5 separate stages, each requiring 15-20 rounds

Welcome KFP.

joseywales pretty much summed it up. "straitshooter" here runs the Real World Gun match and I run the Personal Protection Match. Both matches are similar in equipment requirements. Both are based primarily on IDSA format with some attributes of both IPSC and IDPA. The primary difference is that RWG requires 8 points to neutralize a target and PPM requires only 5 points. This means that the targets must be shot twice in RWG and only one shot is required in PPM, but you must be accurate or shoot it more than once. Both matches have stages set up involving shooting behind cover, shooting on the move, good guys / bad guys, mandatory reloads, training drills, etc. The purpose of our matches at DPC is to 1st have fun, and 2nd maybe learn something.

We encourage new shooters to come out and shoot with us. You could come out and watch if you like and see what we do (shooting is more fun). All of our range officers are trained to work with new shooters to help you along and make sure you have a good time.

The PPM match is scheduled for every second Saturday with sign-up starting at 10:30, shoot at 11:00, and the RWG match is every fourth Saturday with sign-up starting at 9:30, shoot at 10:00. Be sure to introduce yourself to the Match Director when you come and he will make sure you are taken care of.
be safe,
be prepared,
tomc

I have shot only 1 of the PPM matches but I have shot many of their Steel matches and they are a Blast :fire . You should also check out the steel matches they offer. The people that shoot there are really a great group.

Unfortunately, due to to me working nights, I havnt been able to come out and shoot much. However, I WILL be there for the next steel match.

Me too. :anamatedbanana

I've shot a few of the PPM matches and they're a lot of fun. I have not shot a RWG match yet. As for the steel, I shoot it every chance I get!

Yes, membership is maxed right now and there is a waiting list. But, you do not have to be a member to shoot any match.
