Would you really let it come to this?

There would be several states with resistance, but it will not be as widespread as you would like it to be.

Too many people in their comfort zone of "reality tv" and other distractions.

I took an oath to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, so I will obey all constitutional laws, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace.

As I recall the oath said enemies "foreign and domestic".

They can broaden the definition of domestic enemy, but I take it to mean the same as the Founders meant.

I have taken the oath to defend the Constitution several times. I will keep my word.

One of the reasons I am not too worried about the ban and confiscation is that MOST cops would not enforce or obey it. I was surprised so many did during Katrina, and I do not think that as many would without the excuse of the disaster. I see lots of yellow papers blowing out patrol car windows when the order to confiscate comes out.

Well. I just wanted to hear what you guys had to say about the subject. As for me, "I detest guns and do not own any guns and don't want to own any guns. You say that records show that I bought guns, well someone must have used false ID to purchase them, because it wasn't me, officer. Oh, I was on all those gun forums just to make me feel like a big shot, you know, just mouthing off, being in the crowd so to speak. I'll be sure to let you know if I see or hear of anyone with guns. Have a nice day, officer".

I used to think the same but there are all kinds of disastors, The economic disastor we are in that will continue to get worse with Obama, Civil unrest is sure to follow a total economic crash. Confiscating the guns at these times will seem natural to the socialist in charge.

You do have a point, Liberty. Until Katrina, I did not think any (or not very many) cops would support confiscation at all. I may be jumping when I say there would have to be a disaster of that type, as an economic collapse may also count.

I still prefer to think most cops would not do it, but I have to acknowledge the strong possibility that I am engaging in wishful thinking.

Should confiscation come up in casual conversation, for those who propose to confiscate firearms, suggest that the ones who want the firearms confiscated do the actual confiscation, or else ask whose son, daughter, mother or father they are going to send to do the confiscation. This can tend to put this issue in the proper perspective.

Fact is not all officers or soldiers share the same interpretation of the Second Amendment as those who would participate on this board. And it seems to me that many cops from many parts of this country, such as Kalifornia, New Jersey, Chicago, or Washington D.C., would have no problem with the idea of confiscating firearms from anyone not wearing a uniform. There are also those who don't believe in such things in privacy and honestly don't believe in the 4th Amendment either because "if you aren't doing anything wrong, you shouldn't have anything to hide." No, these folks shouldn't be cops or soldiers but, they are and they believe the only way to keep people safe is to disarm them, and herd them around for random inspection like sheep. Well, last time I checked, that's called jail and we all know just how safe it is to be in jail.

When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.

hopefully, this diagram will help explain why "they" think a ban would do any good.
