If you are qualified, USAA is the way to go. Hands down the best bank I have ever used.

Indeed. I have an account with them as well. The downside is that there is no branch to go to. Deposits are only doable by mail, and only checks/money orders. I long for the day my employer starts direct deposit, so I don't have to wait several days after payday to have my money show up in my account.pbwalker wrote:If you are qualified, USAA is the way to go. They only do checks/money orders for deposits, but you can scan them in online and your deposit is IMMEDIATELY available. There is no delay like most other banks. If you deposit a lot of cash, it may not be the best way to go. I use USAA for everything that I can. Love them. You even get % back on debit card purchases. Can't beat it. They also give all their members money back at the end of the year on auto insurance that wasn't spent (not for profit).

That's just plain STUPID .... like if they would keep off a bank robber that really wants to rob them with that sign. All they are keep off are law abiding customers that might be able to help during a crisis

Well, you have to meet certain criteria for them to do the scanning deposit thing. Since I don't have a credit card or other qualifying third account in addition to the banking and insurance through them, I can't do the scanned deposit thing. The cards they offered last I checked didn't satisfy my qualms about having a credit card (short grace period, fees, adjustable interest rates, etc.), so I can't meet the criteria they need. But for most folks, it's quite convenient and easy to use. I'm still quite satisfied with my membership there, and would recommend them to anyone who is eligible and doesn't do a large amount of cash deposits. The insurance rates cannot be beat, and the company exists solely to benefit their membership rather than to make profits from them. It is very close to a cooperative in the way it does business, down to the dividends it gives its members at the end of the year.davlanders wrote:They only do checks/money orders for deposits, but you can scan them in online and your deposit is IMMEDIATELY available. And on the topic of Wells Fargo, I have had my share of bad experiences with them. From screwed up accounting to unhelpful service, they lost my business years ago. They swallowed up the bank I was using as a teenager, and promptly changed their fee schedule and started charging more for everything. I'm still trying to figure out why they think I owe them hundreds of dollars on an account that I closed several years ago. It would not surprise me if they posted 30.06.

Re: ALERT: Wells Fargo posting 30.06?
On a few occasions a Wells Fargo teller asked me for a second form of ID . . . I used my CHL. No problem.
The only time I've felt a need to "disarm" at a Wells Fargo was when I used the one inside the local Randall's supermarket . . . this was during early voting, and the voting was taking place right next to the branch inside the store.

I will go by my local Wells Fargo branch tomorrow to see if it's posted. I know it wasn't a few months ago.
