Trigger Work

#1

Post by ewhite »

Ok guys and gals, I have searched and searched but can not find this subject.

I love my xd's but want a better trigger with less travel and play. If these are going to be my carry weapons what do you think. I am only looking for the travel mainly I did not want to reduce trigger poundage.

These would be your two best options........I got my done at Springer Precision on my XD9 subcompact and love it. I've heard nothing but good things about Canyon Creek too.....

Get their OT stop & Basic Safety Lever kit. Excellent customer service from them, and you can install it yourself.

The reason I ask is that my instructor mentioned that it is never a good idea to mess with your carry gun. Especially the trigger pull weight. So you guys think the basic kit is ok to get rid of overtravel and reset but stay away from the pull. I have actually heard good things from people about all three companys. Thanks for yalls input.

I am familiar with both Springer Precision and Canyon Creek. I have a Canyon Creek trigger job on my carry XD and love it.

What has changed since that time that I've had mine done, is that Springer Precision actually has replacement parts now instead of the modification that used to be done by Springer and Canyon Creek. If I were doing it now, I'd get the replacement parts.

I have read great things about Powder Precision as well. You can do lots of reading on this over at http://www.xdtalk.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Overall, if you are getting a trigger job done by someone reputable, you shouldn't have a problem. Remember that it has been argued in court that a trigger job helps you to be more accurate.

Now if you're just sitting there with a file trying to do it yourself and have no idea what you are doing, that is another story.

That is good to hear, it means that I will need to get my XD40sc out and done before my license gets here. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes XDTalk is as addicting as this board is.
