CHL or jail?
when it is time to get my oil changed i drop my truck at the lube shop beside my office and walk to work and then at lunch or when i get off i walk back over and pick it up. I would never leave my G27 in my truck at the lube shop so i just stuck it in the small of my back. I have the clip draw so i am not worried about it falling in.
the only business between the lube shop and my office is a old run down car wash. while walking by, there was a older guy changing his tire in the wash bay. I stopped to make sure he had tools and all. about that time a Beaumont LEO pulled in and asked what was going on.. after a short conversation he called me over to his car and informed me that he could tell i had a firearm and asked me if I had a permit. After showing him my truck and telling him the story he was a lot more relaxed but was still very firm on the auction that he should take.
After running my drivers license he told me i had two options,
1. felony
2. take the next CHL I could and be covered next time this happens.
Its time for a oil change again and my application is still being processed... Wish it would hurry...

Mighty nice LEO.
You were definitely guilty of Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.

UCW is a Class A misdemeanor unless the place sells alcohol.
In any case it's better to have a CHL if you have a gun in your car because of situations like this, valet parking , etc. Next best is a car safe or lockbox.

Annoyance and 5 years of no CHL (plus a possible year in jail and lots of money)
Re: CHL or jail?
It's not good. I was just pointing out that it probably wasn't a felony to be carrying in the car wash between your office and the lube shop.kelley350x wrote:What would have been the punishment for a class a?
There's also the "inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the person's control" provision but that's enough for me for tonight.
CLASS A MISDEMEANOR. An individual adjudged guilty of a Class A misdemeanor shall be punished by:
(1) a fine not to exceed $4,000;
(2) confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year; or
(3) both such fine and confinement.

After talking to my boss about it he informed me that the car wash is on our property and the land is leased from him so if a stink would have came of it i think i could have gotten out of it after a few grand in court and legal fees.. but its not a fight i want to tango with so i thought the license would be the best route..
plus, this was a real good excuse to tell my wife why i "had" to take the class.

Not to mention the fact that if you would have been arrested then you would have a permanent record of having being arrested for UCW.kelley350x wrote:boomerang wrote:It's not good. I surmise that kelly 350x and us are fortunate to be in Jefferson and/or Orange Counties which or gun friendly, especially to CLHs.
Re: CHL or jail?
