Fry's Electronics Has a Vinyl No Weapons or Firearms Allowed
It's just a white vinyl sticker on their front window. I should feel confident when walking in there right?

Yes, and please don't tell them it doesn't apply to you.Boma wrote:It's just a white vinyl sticker on their front window. I should feel confident when walking in there right?

The Fry's in Plano has no sign that I can find.
I was just there and took shameless glee in confusing the young kid checking bags at the exit.
He asked, very quietly and in heavily accented English, to see my receipt, so I showed it to him. When he tried to take it out of my hand I told him that if he wanted to have it he should ask politely to have it, not just to see it, as I had already let him see it.
Then he asked, even more quietly, if he could see my bag, which I held up and showed him, and then he tried to take it from my hand, which I pulled away quickly while explaining how rude it was to try to take possessions from people when all he asked was to see the bag and if he wanted to see in the bag, he should ask, and he should ask in a voice that would be audible to people with hearing impairments like me.
At that point he shrugged and gave up, made a mark on the receipt and waved me out the door. I went out the door declaiming loudly about rude people being bad for business.

Ok, I give.... Why you guys giving the door checkers a hard time? At walley world I actually stop and visit with the elderly lady who checks my reciept. I realize I have already paid for the stuff in my bag and it's mine but I don't I don't really mind them looking at my stuff.
Just wondering if I am missing something :) ?

I missed something...this is evidence of exactly which attribute of character, intelligence, or social grace that you are reflecting upon with such pride?
As I have never publicly called someone a moron, I will not do so now, as it appears obvious that the poster's comments fail to meet the threshold for that designation.

We have been over this ground to some extent before. I do not see an accusation of anything in these folks asking to see the receipt or even to look in your bag. At that point (inside the door) you are still on their property and still subject to some inspection by the business.
What I see is a person who is likely minimally employed, trying to do what they have been told to do, and keep the job.
I see no reason to mess with them, harass them, confuse them or otherwise make a miserable job any worse, simply because they ask to see the receipt. I certainly would not see a reason to actually enjoy doing so.

I thought those checks were also meant to keep their cashiers honest. Looking at it from that perspective, I don't really mind the check as long as it doesn't take forever. At Sam's, I usually hand them the receipt, pause a few seconds for them to look at my cart or sack, then I start walking and leave them with the receipt. They usually have this puzzled look like "Hey, this isn't in my training handbook. What do I do if the customer doesn't take his/her receipt back?"

The poor boy wasn't accusing anyone of anything, as far as I can see. He was doing his assigned job, which must be quite unpleasant, as he is required to invade the private space of each and every customer leaving the store, and he knows he's on camera, to boot. Pride in one's own bad manners, and amusement at the discomfort one causes others, are pathological personality issues that I don't want to see associated with CHL holders as a whole. Deal with the officers, not the troops, on policy issues. They know which side their bread plate is on, and what the little spoon is for.
And no, I've never been accused of stealing, and I don't expect that it will happen.

The Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and Texas Civil Practices and Remedies Code BOTH require a person to have reasonable belief that property is stolen, or that a person is attempting to steal property before store employees can detain the person to ascertain ownership of the property.
Once I pay for that merchandise it is MINE. They have NO, ZERO, NADA right to stop me and request that I show them anything.

And what experience and training do you have in diagnosing personality disorders?
You will excuse me if I care not what YOU "care to see associated with CHL holders."

Is that elitism I smell?
