Need some input on gun belts to wear with dress slacks
I need a gun belt that can be worn with dress slacks. This means something nice looking, and that won't call attention to the fact that it's a "gun belt"!
In my research, I've found the Beltman and the Gunner's Alley to be the best options, but are there any I'm missing?
Also, is 1 1/4" going to be "enough" belt to hold up a 20oz firearm + 14rds of 9mm ammo? I'm figuring on IWB carry.

The belt, or no belt, is the reason I carry with a paddle holster and paddle magazine cases. You don't have to be concerned about what type of belt.

Beltman has some nice stuff, try also Galco and CompTac.
I personally would give my two tumbs to CompTac. I have two of their belts and like'em pretty well.

FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.

1.5 inch belts give significantly more support to the holster and gun than 1.25" ones do. I wouldn't recommend a 1.25" belt for the configuration you want to carry.CHLSteve wrote:I need a gun belt that can be worn with dress slacks. You might want to take a look at the Liger Belt from Maxpedition. It looks dressy, is very supportive and comfortable, and is a pleasure to wear.

Do they make tuckable paddle holsters?CopOnce wrote:The belt, or no belt, is the reason I carry with a paddle holster and paddle magazine cases. You don't have to be concerned about what type of belt.

I appreciate the recommendation, and I've seen that belt before. The buckle on that belt doesn't appear to be "dressy" to me, but perhaps the photo is no good. You might want to take a look at the Liger Belt from Maxpedition. Does anyone here have issues with wearing 1.5" belts in dress slacks? I'd hate to have to buy new pants to fit a belt.

You lost me on tuckable paddle holsters. I understood your request for information, I just offered information on the paddle holsters because I've run across people who have never heard of one.Do they make tuckable paddle holsters?

No problem, CopOnce. I figured that the tuck part was assumed since I was speaking about dress slacks, which I would wear with with a dress shirt!
Thanks for the tip on paddle holsters though, that may be something I can use on the weekends!

By definition, a paddle holster is an OWB (outside the waistband) unit. A tuckable has to be an IWB (inside the waistband). There are a number of these available from various manufacturers. The Galco SkyOps is one example.CHL Steve wrote:Do they make tuckable paddle holsters?
You'd have to measure the belt loops or try a 1.5" belt in the pants. Mine all accept that size belt, but that's one of the things I look for when buying.CHLSteve wrote:Does anyone here have issues with wearing 1.5" belts in dress slacks? I'd hate to have to buy new pants to fit a belt.
The Liger belt buckle looks considerably better in person than it does in web pictures.

I wear a 1.24” belt with stiffener from belt man. I use it every day with my suit, in the lobby of the bank. Full size 1911 most days.
Re: Need some input on gun belts to wear with dress slacks
My experience is that a 1.5" gun belt will fit business casual pants (e.g. khakis, chinos) but not suit pants. However, belt loops vary so nothing is absolute.

Re: Need some input on gun belts to wear with dress slacks
I have a 1.25" Galco that works very nicely as a dress belt. Sturdy and stylish. Bought it at Collector's, their price was close to online and since they stocked it for me to look at and try on, they deserved my biz.
it's socially unacceptable to be ahead of your time.

Re: Need some input on gun belts to wear with dress slacks
Apostate is correct to a degree. A 1.5" leather gun belt will fit fewer than a third of my slacks.apostate wrote:My experience is that a 1.5" gun belt will fit business casual pants (e.g. khakis, chinos) but not suit pants. However, belt loops vary so nothing is absolute.
Belt-looping is evidently less than an exact science with haberdashers.

If you wear off-the-rack dress slacks, I think you'll need at least one, good 1.25" gun belt.
