Re: Please Pray
Prayer sent. I know (from personal experience!) that breast cancer is a very scary diagnosis, but several types of treatment are available, and our God can top all of it! BTW, invasive can still be quite "local", in the sense that it has progressed out of the duct, but not spread to distant parts of the body. Tell Susan to hang tough, she can do this thing. I'm in treatment now, and it's going very well. Best wishes for a much-improved 2009!!

Re: Please Pray
I will be praying for your family. I pray for Johnnie the strength of God and may the Lord give him peace, in the mist of the storm. I pray for Susan and ask the Great Physician to reach down and touch her with his diving healing, and complete restoration. I pray for the doctors that You, Father, would give them wisdom. I lift up Kristen and Mindi, and ask that you would strengthen them and give them peace. I pray for you, that the Lord will be with you in am mighty way, Lord turn this evil into good, and I give you the glory. God Bless You and your Family...keep your eyes upon the Lord.
Will continue to pray for you and your family,

Re: Please Pray
Marked and Remembered. they will absolutely be in my thoughts and prayers.
As a few words of encouragement, I have some personal experience on the treatment end of things. I can tell you that breast cancer these days is not what it was when we were growing up. Most kinds of breast cancer have a surprisingly high rate of "cure". Most of the literature i've read has put it in the mid to high 90% with proper treatment and caught early enough. it's by no means a death sentence.
In line with that. I used to work at MD Anderson Cancer Center here in town and I can tell you from first hand personal experience that if any of my friends or family members had to deal with cancer I would drag them through those doors kicking and screaming if need be. I have never ever seen a group of people so dedicated and galvanized toward a goal as they are there. From everything I've seen they take each case personally and I've seen a lot of cases through there. If at all possible I would suggest getting hooked up with them asap. Dont let money be an issue. I've seen them work with people like you wouldn't believe. tons of information on their website as well: http://www.mdanderson.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Please Pray
I can confirm LedJedi's recommendation of MD Anderson for anyone with cancer. I have seen what they do from the patient side, and it's astonishing.LedJedi wrote:Marked and Remembered. they will absolutely be in my thoughts and prayers.

The merely impossible they do routinely every day. Out and out miracles take them just a little while longer.

Re: Please Pray - UPDATED (1-9-08)
UPDATE::
I just got off the phone with Susan and have some good and some bad news. She went for her MRI and met with the first of 2 surgeons that she wants to "interview".
Bad news first - - The cancer is Stage 3.
She has a variety of options - from a lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation all the way to a double mastectomy. The doctor she met with actually gave them a real sense of peace. He spent more than 2 1/2 HOURS talking to them and explaining all of the different options. I couldn't believe that!!
She sounded really good tonight and my daddy did too. That made my heart smile. They are meeting with the 2nd surgeon next Tuesday and then will spend the rest of the week making some decisions about what course of action they want to take. I will keep you guys posted on what she decides to that you can continue to pray specifically.
I am so very thankful for all of you!

Susan and the family remain on my daily prayer list. I am confident that God will guide their decision about physician and treatment.

Re: Please Pray - UPDATED (1-27-08)
Susan has decided on a team of doctors for her treatment and they are taking a pretty agressive approach. She is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow morning (Wed.) at 10:30am. They will be doing a complete mastectomy (sp?) on her left breast. Once that tissue has been removed, they will be able to see if they need to go further.
She will most likely need to undergo some radiation and chemo treatments, but again, we won't know the extent of that until after the surgery.
Please lift up the surgeons, nurses, Susan, and my daddy in your prayers tomorrow morning. Thank you so much!
Kimberly
