What are "sheeple"?

:?:
I've seen this a few times, namely by TxFire. At first, I thought it was a typo, but no one makes that many typos.
Just curious.

Sheeple are people who mindlessly follow along. For instance, people who believe that whatever the government does must be the right thing and that "it's for thier own good" or "the benefit of society" are Sheeple.

Combination of "sheep" and "people." Sheep will follow whatever they are told, so the term refers to those who follow the government, or any authority, blindly.

John, yours is original. At least to me. I also use the term a lot & all of the above are true but I include the inability to defend themselves, & that is not a character flaw as the other behaviors are. If they did not blindly follow they would still look like a meal to the wolves. Thus someones signature. Giving credit by saying it ain't mine & cain't quote it correctly but I like it. Democracy is 2 wolves & a lamb voting on what is for supper. Liberty is a well armed lamb. Someone correct it 'cause that is the idea but not exactly.

I made it up, but should have used a comma. Condition white, utopians. I guess the proper definition is the combining of Sheep and People as one word as stated by barres.

Don't remember where it came from either, but the quote is "Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the results." (I think.)

Probably the most intuitive use of the term "sheep" referring to people is in the excerpt from "On Sheep, Wolves, And Sheepdogs"
By LTC(RET) Dave Grossman, RANGER, Ph.D.,author of "On Killing."

I have not read the works of Dr. Grossman, so I can not attest to his overall philosophy. I have read that this abbreviated example of his writings does not reflect on his philosophy.

You might want to google the above and read it. I am sure a lot of this board's members fall into the category of "Sheepdog".

Maybe some of the sheep who lurk in the background will read it as well.

Not that many years behind you.

Your right, Haven't seen one of those since the oldest was in 1st grade. The grandkids are about to start school so maybe I need to take them shopping to see if I can find one or a substitute.
