Rainier & Berry Bullets, Cast Lead Bullets
I'm looking to lower the cost of shooting .
Who has any experience with either Rainier or Berry bullets in 9mm and/or .45acp calibers? Similarly, it appears that Midway may have the best prices du jour. As stated in a previous post, I'll be using up Green Dot and 700-X powder left over from yesteryear.
Thanks, I'll appreciate your input and suggestions.

Re: Rainier & Berry Bullets
I know it's not the bullets you mentioned but you might consider Missouri Bullet company. Their stuff seems pretty nice though they aren't plated. I have used their .45 ACP LSWC 200gr. bullets and have got their 125 gr. 9mm RN but haven't shot them yet.

There was a group buy a while ago with Precision Bullets. They're cheaper then most. They're not jacketed or plated but instead, have a polymer coating that doesn't foul up the barrel. Most were very pleased with the product.

Re: Rainier & Berry Bullets
For 45Acp, I haven't been that happy with Berry, but Rainers are fine. For 9mm I've used Remington 124gr JHP (bulk at Midway) and also these which are popular with the USPSA crowd:

My current .45acp load is actually Rainer 200gr JHP over green dot.

I've been using 380 and 9mm Rainier and Berry bullets for several years now without any issues. I really like them and have found reasonable prices through the Cabela's just up the road from me.

I have used both of the above also in the 9mm, 38sp, & .45acp. They are both excellent choices & very competetive.
Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Re: Rainier & Berry Bullets, Cast Lead Bullets
Mornin' Everybody,
I really appreciate the response and suggestions and have been searching the web for additional info and best prices. It seems that components, at least 9mm Rainier bullets, are in about as short a supply as ammo is.
Does anybody have any loading data and/or thoughts on cast lead bullets?
Thanks again,
Greg

Re: Rainier & Berry Bullets, Cast Lead Bullets
I've stumbled across a great reloading site: /www.handloads.org/loaddata/ . This site has a ton of different loading recipes for just about all calibers and all components. HOORAY!
If I could find some bullets; e.g., 9mm luger and .45 acp, I'd be .

I've been using Berry's for about a year now. Between the better half and I, we have fired over 3600 rounds with near a thousand on hand. My load is 4.6 gr. IMR700X, CCI primer, Berry 230 gr. rn. Only one failure to fire caused by primer seating issue.

Thanks for the endorsement. Now if I could only find an outfit that had either Berry or Rainier 9mm's or .45 acp's in stock.sbb wrote:I've been using Berry's for about a year now. Order from Berry's website, http://www.berrysmfg.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, there are no shipping charges on orders over $50.00 and no sales tax. They have plenty in stock. I just ordered 1000 rds. of .452 230 gr. for a little less than $125.00.

Re: Rainier & Berry Bullets, Cast Lead Bullets
Thanks again, I just looked at their site. There was no mention of lubication requirements for the plated bullets. Do Berry's plated bullets require lubication?sbb wrote:Order from Berry's website, http://www.berrysmfg.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, there are no shipping charges on orders over $50.00 and no sales tax. Re: Rainier & Berry Bullets, Cast Lead Bullets
No lube required. Place em and seat em. Check for OAL and you're good to go.
