Remember the NRA's $20 M1 Carbines?

But, of course, the M1 Carbines are no longer $20 each (try $420 up through $675 depending on quality). However, one remaining cool aspect of it is that you can get them to FedEx your purchased rifle(s) straight to your door without going through an FFL.

Which made me think of this question:

Does anyone know if we Texans can order from there and have the rifles delivered to us here in Texas, or would that be against Texas State Law?

Personally, I'd like to get a M1 Garand from there.

I wasn't talking about the CMP, I was talking about the DCM program, which, although it morphed into the CMP, is a ghost of its former self.

I'm with you Jim. Mine will remain "as issued"...just like me!

I am now the recipient of Dad's old M1. Also will be kept as is. I would like to get another and tweek up. With some modern gadgetry they might make a very nice little carbine. The recoil is absolutely minimal and accurate for what it was.

I ordered an M1 Garand and a 1903A3 from the CMP today so hopefully I will get some nice ones. There are several requirements to order but the really nice thing is they mail to your door, no FFL. With shipping it totaled $1149. They have ammo as well but i dont know about surplus ammo, isnt it corrosive?

The ammo from CMP is non-corrosive. Nothing wrong with it. It is the best deal you will find for your rifles. Because of different burn rates, sporting ammo, (as in the stuff you buy at the store), can cause great damage to a Garand. Either use GI ammo or install an adjustable gas plug/valve.

CMP is swamped right now so your order will take some time. In the end, it will be well worth it! Enjoy!
