I stopped at the Academy in Selma or Schertz last night, they had about 20 box of soft point Remington .223 on the rifle ammo shelf along with a few other pick over calibers. There were a few boxes of pistol ammo but not an abundance of anything. I picked up a 100 round WWB for 41.95.

I just checked the receipt, it was a typo... It was 41.99! The Wally World in New Braunfels is perpetually sold out of all ammo save .38 special and I am headed to the ranch this weekend and needed some ammo. Supply and demand at work. Sadly enough, Wally World and Academy are the only places to buy ammo 'round these parts, not including ranges.

I have started saving all my brass, I plan on starting reloading soon. Now to find bullets, primers and powder...

I suppose the caliber would have been a good thing to mention...
It was a 100 round box of WWB in .45 ACP.

Wow...that is just nuts!!! The last 45 I bought at Wally World in January came out to about 15 dollars a box.It was the 100 count WWB and it was 29 and change. They only had 8 boxes and I bought them all. My buyers remorse just melted away... :coolgleamA: .

Found some 9mm at the Wal-Mart in Kemah this morning. They had both WWB and Remington (UMC?). We bought five boxes of WWB 9 ($19.97/100)and the last remaining box of Remington .45

last week I called several wally worlds to ask about 40S&W all were out except for one store. I immediately went to the store and releived them of what that had left 2 100 rnd boxes and 1 50 rnd box.

All the stores said the same thing...ammo is in very short supply and are on back order. none knew when they might get more in.

I just got back from the Wal-Mart on 635 and Midway in Dallas. Usually, we can pick up .45ACP and 9mm fairly cheap (100 round bricks), but today...well, you get the picture.

The clerk there said that they had a shipment come in last night and within the first three hours of opening today they sold out. The only thing left was the exotic calibers. He (the clerk) did not know when they were getting another shipment in.

Is this just a run on ammo by good guys?
Or, is it lag in production and the rising cost of metals?
Or is it a run on ammo by the BGs?
Or...?

Very strange; I haven't seen shortages like this in a very long time, if ever.
