Exactly; the safety violation wasn't worth the cop interrupting whatever he was wasting five other people's time with, and yet whatever that was, it was less important than smacking down some guy who didn't show proper deference to the uniform.Sangiovese wrote:I think we're pretty much in agreement that if he had rode past silently, none of us would be reading about him in the paper today.

Quote: "I think he can beat the unlawfully carrying charge very easily since the way I read the story, the cops actually found the gun when they searched him for the evading arrest. That does not mean the gun was not exactly how they said (partially unconcealed), just that they did not notice it."
In thinking more about it, Steve, ya probably right - if he's prepared to go into meatgrinder at Tarrant County. It was dark and the "mesh" (if like on my back pack) was probably black. And he was obviously moving (at least until they caught him).
Yeah, he might just be able to beat that UCW charge - at a cost pushing at least $500 apiece for those first 7 words.

Re: CHL Arrested in Fort Worth
So you figure the cop was wasting the other five peoples time? Must be nice to be clairvoyant. The punk on the bicycle popped off at the cops. That is not the same thing as failing to show proper deference. I would call this a situation of some worm letting his alligator mouth drag his bunny rabbit rear end into more than he can handle.KD5NRH wrote:Exactly; the safety violation wasn't worth the cop interrupting whatever he was wasting five other people's time with, and yet whatever that was, it was less important than smacking down some guy who didn't show proper deference to the uniform.Sangiovese wrote:I think we're pretty much in agreement that if he had rode past silently, none of us would be reading about him in the paper today.
I wonder if this bike rider would be so brave about popping off to some home boys standing on the side of the road. Bet not...LOL.

Idk, I think he might be just as willing, seeing as how he's packing heat and therefore bulletproof...
I learned this lesson when I got an exhibition of acceleration charge at 17 years old after peeling out in front of an officer who had someone pulled over. Granted, I'd just gotten the car that day and wasn't used to the clutch, but the fact that he left the guy he'd pulled over and chased me down has stayed with me.

You dont think we should expect our public officials to have more self restraint than some home boys standing on the side of the road?03Lightningrocks wrote: I wonder if this bike rider would be so brave about popping off to some home boys standing on the side of the road. Bet not...LOL.
Re: CHL Arrested in Fort Worth
Well, they didn't kill him or beat the heck out of him, so they obviously did have more self restraint... So what's your question again?

Straight up fellers. Anyone disrespecting a police officer like that is disrespecting us all. I have no patience or sympathy for it personally.

Re: CHL Arrested in Fort Worth
Just to throw this one out there, police stated that just the "handle" was exposed. Could he get off because he was not 'knowingly' displaying his weapon? What if when he secured his gun in his backpack and somewhere along his bike ride it became exposed without his knowledge? In no way am I defending this guy for instigating police officers, I'm just curious about the technicalities of the law.

Re: CHL Arrested in Fort Worth
I wonder about some of this accidental exposure business too. Today I was sitting in a Popeye's in Plano and just happened to think about my weapon. I reached down and realized my shirt had caught the chair as I sat down. My pistol was showing bigger than all get out. I would like to think an officer would cut us some slack on this kind of deal. Fortunately i was in there early and the lunch rush hadn't started. It was just me and the roaches at the time.Aggie_engr wrote:Just to throw this one out there, police stated that just the "handle" was exposed. It's called common sense; whatever it was wasn't worth missing the chance to smack down the impertinent peon who dared speak ill to the officer. If it wasn't that important, then he was wasting their time.03Lightningrocks wrote:So you figure the cop was wasting the other five peoples time? Must be nice to be clairvoyant.
That is exactly the same thing; he didn't harm them in any way, just didn't bow and scrape to their authority. The punk on the bicycle popped off at the cops. That is not the same thing as failing to show proper deference.

Your wrong, it isn't the same thing. He ran his mouth when he shouldn't have. Folks with big mouths often have troubles others don't. I am sure he had an attitude about authority figures. Well, now he can consider his next big move in life. He sure taught those pesky ole cops a thing or two...LOL.KD5NRH wrote:It's called common sense; whatever it was wasn't worth missing the chance to smack down the impertinent peon who dared speak ill to the officer. If running one's mouth was a crime or harmful, most major cities would be empty, and the prisons would be overflowing.03Lightningrocks wrote:Your wrong, it isn't the same thing. One could say the same about gun owners, Catholics, Hispanics, or any other definable group, for that matter.Folks with big mouths often have troubles others don't.
Who proved him right by their actions.I am sure he had an attitude about authority figures.
