Confused about signage!

#1

Post by pastor1 »

My dad had surgery yesterday and when I went through the main entrance of the hospital I noticed the sign forbidding the carrying of handguns was not a 30.06 sign but rather a 44.13 sign. I looked in the most current CHL laws and can't find anything about 44.13. The law says the hospital must have a 30.06 sign (pages 36 and 37 of the 2005-2006 statutes). On page 37 the law says it's a defense to prosecution if the actor was not given notice under section 30.06. This applies to churches, hospitals, amusement park, and the meeting of a govermental entity. So, somebody needs to educate me about all this stuff please. :?: I really thought I new what the laws were.

If a valid 30.06 sign isn't posted (and a 44.13 sign is NOT a valid 30.06 sign), then you can carry until / unless you receive appropriate written or verbal notice that you are not allowed to CCW there.

Carry away, but keep it concealed so nobody gives you that verbal notice. Oh, and did you get my PM? Never got a response back so I am just checking...

Thank you for the info. Yes I got you're pm and I sent one back but I guess I didn't send it properly or something went wrong. I'll try again soon.

For those of ya'll who sent me pm. I responded to all of them but I don't think they got through because I can't find them in my "sent" box. I've tried now several times.

I don't have anything in my inbox, so they sure aren't going through. Feel free to use email instead of PM then... I think that is in my profile.

This was from memory. If I've got the wrong number, please correct me.

Thats the old sign from when Hospitals were completely off limits without need of posting a 30.06.

Is anyone else having trouble with PM's?

Oh, subject line huh? O.K., I went back to the hospital and this is what the sigh says in English and Spanish: "State Law Prohibits Carrying Handguns on this Premisis. v.c.s. art. 4413 (29ee). So, what's this sign? Is is valid or something we can ignore?

The only valid sign is a 30.06 sign
