He sounds much like a dictator to me as everyday passes.. I've never been one for politics, but for some reason I've recently become more aware of whats going on, so with that said, I'm a newbie to politics..
I can already see it though, whats happening with the Auto industry, the banks, and so forth.. I thought the Government wasn't supposed to get involved in matters such as these? Help maybe, but telling them what they can and cannot do, telling them they must restructure before getting any more help? It sounds smart, I dont loan money to anyone who will just blow it on whatever and not take advantage of my kindness. So why should the Government? That subject is a double edged sword I know. But it's a stepping stone, it seems like the right thing to do, and it is, but is it just a step closer to a socialist society?
Rushing bills that nobody can review fast enough? Who knows what could be hidden in those bills, yet they were passed. Just another stepping stone? I dont know, I really dont, but from my limited view of things, it's not looking good.. You tack on the other issues, add them all together, does it not seem strange?
I've yet to see how Obama has helped anyone.. I see him giving billions away to big companies, who are going down because of bad practices, and because the average Joe like you and me cant afford to pay them. They are getting help, but where is the help for the little guy? We're still losing homes, vehicles, our jobs, and it all boils down to the people not having the money to spent to support these companies. To throw salt on the wound, it's our money thats bailing these companies out.....
Businesses, I'm half owner of a business. Our business has flat crashed, we're losing money so fast it's making our head spin. I started working half days to help, which in turn hurts me. I've got medical bills that eat up a 1/3rd of my income, yet I can only claim 5K of that on taxes? HA, that doesnt even cover half of what I pay in medical bills, this does not include the 500 bucks a month I pay for insurance. My tax return doesnt even come close to helping me, I hate to see that every drop of it will go to help the companies who are the same people to whom my hard earned money is being given to by the government, while I'm no closer to paying it all off... It hurts me bad only working half days.. Yet what we have to pay the Texas Workforce Commission has gone up 32% from last yr. I sure hope that money will keep my alive and kicking when and god forbid we have to shut down. So much for helping the little guys huh? We're hurting, yet spending a butt load of money to the Commission thats helping people who are unemployed, and that will be one of the reason's why the company might have to be shut down if we cant get some income coming in..
Ammo? People are scared they wont be able to get it anymore. Supply and demand, thats all it is. I paid 5 dollar a gallon diesel last yr, many times spending over 140 bucks to not even fill a truck up. Was there a shortage? Yeah, but only because the oil producers caused the shortage. How else do you explain the record profits being made during that time? People driving less? Price of gas goes up, people cant afford it, yet oil producers are making record profits? Yeah, that doesnt sound fishy at all........ The ammo? Did Obama play a role in the price increase? Yep, he did, but it wasn't because of a under the table deal, it was fear from the sheeple..
From where I'm sitting, I only see the rich getting richer. It's always been this way, always will be this way, but you dont throw wood on the fire to put it out. You have to control a fire before you can put it out, and that happens by people working together to get it under control, which cant happen if we dont have the tools to fight it. It doesnt happen by working the fire directly. I'm no numbers guy, I know squat about politics. I'm just a simple minded country boy who works hard for a living. If I can see whats going on, then I'm either totally wrong and dont have a clue about how things work, or the government is trying to do some major restructuring of our entire economy. Middle class turns into weak lower class, while the powerful upper class takes control.. Sounds like someone is power hungry..

Old Gringo,
I'm very famioliar with that expression and I agree that it applies very well to the current POTUS, as it did, possibly even better to the former POTUS. It's really as shame that we have nothing better to say about a man in that position. Maybe next time someone will run that we can all feel good about, and I don't mean Palin!

Good point about being from Chicago.Even if bambam is not a socialist, he is socialistic, and he's a Chicago politician, which is damning in and of itself.
Not so about the banks or the auto industry. The initial $300+ billion given to financial institutions was done so under the Bush W. administration with no strings attached and no oversight. The money vanished in to an abyss and nobody in the Federal gov't knows how it is used. The auto industry is still in trouble, GM may go bankrupt the last I heard. And there were several strings attached to the Feds giving the auto companies bailout money. No strings were attached to the money given to the Wall Street types. He has nationalized the banks nationalized our Automobile industry, Threaten forced confiscation of those he deemed we bonused to much. He wants to make the rich poorer to subsidize the poor. And he threatens to nationalize our Medical care If he isn't a socialist there isn't any such thing. The only difference between him and Lenin is that he hasn't got as far ...... yet.
Also, the Federal gov't has been regulating and standardizing and "nationalizing" banks for over a 100 years.
The National Bank Act (ch. 58, 12 Stat. 665, February 25, 1863) was a United States federal law that established a system of national charters for banks. It encouraged development of a national currency based on bank holdings of U.S. Treasury securities.
and
The first Glass-Steagall Act was passed in February, 1932 in an effort to stop deflation and expanded the Federal Reserve's ability to offer rediscounts on more types of assets and issue government bonds as well as commercial paper.[4] The second Glass-Steagall Act was passed in 1933 in reaction to the collapse of a large portion of the American commercial banking system in early 1933.
This is exactly what was done with the Patriot Act of 2001.Rushing bills that nobody can review fast enough? Who knows what could be hidden in those bills, yet they were passed. Just another stepping stone? I dont know, I really dont, but from my limited view of things, it's not looking good.. You tack on the other issues, add them all together, does it not seem strange?
I agree. If we could get rid of the entire group and start over, with term limits, maybe all of us "ordinary Joe's" might get the representation we deserve. In my opinion, the Congress has done a monumentally poor job of representing us for quite some time. They need to answer for their narrow minded, partisan behavior and we have the ultimate tool - the vote. Please remember that come election time. That's the way I see it, but heck, I could be wrong.
One more thing - wheel guns rule.

My opinion of Obama, will probably be left better unsaid. The US Secret Service and NSA are known to key word forums. Anyway, i will say that I did not vote for him. Nor will I vote for him in the future. We are too far apart on many issues, universal health care, gun control, religious beliefs. I do not agree with his handling of the the auto and banking industries. I do not agree with him meddling in corporate affairs, we are a free enterprise system and that means the government keeps thier dirty little hands out of it. I do not agree with his relaxing the security measures Bush had in place, you may not like Bush, but the undisputable fact remains, there has not been another attack on US soil since 9/11. I do not agree with his failure to respond to any issues regarding illegal immigration. They are a drain on our economic system, the cost of their medical care alone far exceeds any economic contribution they perceive they make.
Obama may not make us a true socialist state, however I do believe we will come closer to that than ever before in our history. Only time will tell if our fears are valid or not. I do fear the next four years. The last 3 months have been a disaster, and he while he and the other liberals will blame Bush, the other fact that no one likes to talk about much is none of this crap started until we had a democratically controlled House and Senate. Some folks say it is a coincidence. I don't believe in coincidences.
I am an American, I will support my country and serve my community in any way my fat 50 year old you know what can. This is still the greatest country on earth.
American by birth, Texan by the grace of God!
