How long do I have?

#1

Post by TXXDCC »

I took the CHL class late last year but put off submitting my forms as money was VERY tight. I have the $$ now but don't want to send the paperwork in until I find out if it is still valid. So how long is the class valid for? I wish I had been able to send the papers in right away since I would probably nearly have my plastic now but life intervenes. :banghead:
Chl class 7/9/11
Online app 7/15/11
Fingerprints 7/19/11
Materials sent 7/20/11
Delivery confirmation 7/22/11
BG check pending 7/28/11
Manufacturing Pending 7/29/11
CHL Mailed 7/29/11
Plastic in hand 8/4/11

You can apply within two years of the date on your TR-100 form.

I took my course last month and the instructor told us we had one year from the date of the TR-100. I've never looked it up though so don't take my word for it.

If a person applies on the DPS website, the fee they paid is good for one year, but the first TR-100 training certificate is good for two years. If an applicant goes past one year from the date they applied online, then they will have to pay the $140 fee again, but the TR-100 is good for two years. All renewal TR-100's are good for only six months, measured from the date of the class until the date DPS received the renewal application.

Sheesh, when I read the title of this thread, I was dreading that you had come down with a terminal disease. I'm glad it's quite the opposite. I suppose the only "sickness" you'll have now is waiting for your plastic.
