1-4x scope advice

#1

Post by RECIT »

I have a new RRA LAR-8 that is a flat top receiver and I NEED optics for it. I am looking at taking shots from 100-400yrds and I am looking into a Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x30 scope. There are several other scopes that would fit the bill like the Meopta Meostar R1 RD 1-4x22, Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T 1-3x14mm, Nikko Stirling 1-4x24 just to name a few. I am looking for something that does not take batteries and under the $1000 dollar mark for sure. I know the leupold is knocking on that door and I think that is my least favorite out of my options. If any of you have a suggestions on other optic brand or models please let me know. I have spent some time behind another Accupoint 3-9x40 and I like it a lot. The picture is so clear and the dot is easy to see in any light and its illuminated without batteries!. I do not have much experience with other scopes other than a little bolt .22 my Dad has. Suggestions and opinion are all welcome I will say I do not want a huge honkin sniper scope with tons of magnification, I like the 1-4x or 1-6x maybe at the most.

Go to the Brian Enos forums, three gun section. Do a search on 1-4 optics. Many threads on what is available, strong and weak points and what works in 3 gun.
If you want to see them in person come out to the WHIDPA multigun match (2nd Sat of the month). I know we have shooters with several of the current crop of 1-4 optics. Just ask and they will give you a chance to actually look through one.

The match sounds like a good place to check out what everyone is running. Where is the match held and is there any fee to observe. 3 gun is the next direction I was wanting to go with this rifle. You are right up my alley.

Check out the match announcement in the competition forum.
No fee to watch, just eye & hearing protection

Just a warning.....if you come out without equipment to shoot the match, you will kick yourself.

Go to http://WWW.WHIDPA.COM" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for directions to the range (North of Brookshire off 359, west of Houston)

I can not make it to this match, but now that is on my radar for sure. I had an interest in joining the impact zone shooting club, but never did make the time to get the ball rolling. I have just been too busy and this weekend is no exception. I will try and make it to one of the WHIDPA meets this month though. I hope to see some friendly faces and fun loving people. Thanks for the invite will see ya'll soon enough.

Check out US optics, Burris Optics, Nightforce Optics, Ior Valdada, and there are plenty others that are making 1-4+ optics out there. For the price I don't think you can beat the Millett DMS.

I like the look and value of the Millett DMS. Thank you for the suggestion.
