On one hand I think it's a good idea to limit how much one can buy. Leaves some for the next guy. But on the other hand I don't like it. Sounds kinda socialist...
If I want to go into store XYZ and buy all of their trash cans, I can. Why just limit ammo??? Why not limit eggs, bacon, brooms, etc...?

I'm not in the market for "eggs, bacon, brooms, etc...".

Seriously folks.....there is no way this situation isn't going to implode on itself. Think about all the folks that are going to stop buying ammo at some point. We are talking 10's of thousands of folks that are going to wake up and realize just how stupid it is having enough ammo to supply a regiment. These folks are out of the ammo market for years to come. Most people go shooting a few times a year. Those of us that go once a week or more are in the minority.

I think I will relax about all this and wait it out.

If just rumors that are not verifiable nor that even make sense can cause just such a run, what would happen if something real were to happen? I got caught flat footed with this shortage. No money no time and no space to catch try to hoard. I am resolved though that once I am home, and catch my breath with expenses that I'm going to be a hoarder. I really hate not being able to go to the range because I don't have enough ammo. I've been able to buy 200 rounds since January in 2 trips. 100 rounds at Wally world and 100 rounds at Academy. Both times all they had was some shotgun shells and 9mm. I think 9mm and 22s are the most available handgun rounds. My salt water washed ammo is actually starting to look tempting.

I think I see where our perspectives might be different...LOL. I have been a hoarder for a few years. Not really because I was worried it would all be outlawed, but more because I like getting "deals". I shoot mostly 9mm in handgun and in black gun 223. I also use 7.62x39. Anytime i found any of these available for case pricing that looked like a good deal....I bought it. Over the years I developed quite the stockpile . In October last year, I started worrying about the socialist party getting into office so I picked up a few extra cases in honor of our socialist members of society. Now I have the luxairy of being able to hold off on some of these high prices. If I had some great insight to how bad it was going to get, I would have doubled my supplies.

I sure hope prices come back down. I am afraid that so many folks are thinking in hindsight like you are that as supplies try to build up, more and more are going to want to "stock up" for the next time. I agree that if the threat was real, this would get real ugly.

...I submit as proof the fact that WWB is selling today at Wally World for the same price it was selling for last year. Natchez is one of the folks gouging people. Not that I would deny them the American dream. If the manufacturers were doing this, the price increases would be the same at Wally World as it is Natchez. But it is not. Wally World isn't taking a hit on every box of ammo they sell. Wally World uses NO emotion when they price merchandise. they use a formula that uses the cost of the item to them. Every bit of that increase at Natchez is dealer profit.

If this is an agreeable measure and what 03Lightningrocks says is true, why don't we start a price comparison thread so we can keep track of which shops take advantage of us during these lean times. When happy days are here again we can all give them a little taste of good old fashioned American boycott...

im tired of continually checking Academy and Walmart for ammo. Heck with it, I just placed ad order with Cabelas. The store in Buda doesnt have the ammo but the internet will get it for me. $18.99/50 winchester for 40S&W is high but at least I will have it next week. Also got Speer 180g GDHP 40S&Wfor 25.99/20 after paying 24.95/50 from Ammunition To Go 3 months ago. Thats OK too, dont want to buy a new carry round have to test fire a couple of boxes to see if my gun likes it.

Got some Corbon 115g +p 9mm for 21.99/20 (for my 9MM alternate carry). That price is actually stable for two years. I may have paid 18.99 at Sportsman Warehouse 2 yrs ago.

I got alot of other supplies (cleaning, reloading tools, bullets, and some other ammo 22LR,223)

Surely a gun dealer can get better prices than buying from wally world. They would have all the same distributor connections as wally world. I know of restaurants, and garages buying at Wally world. Retailers for years have complained that Wallyworld sells at better price than they can get Wholesale. This is why they are also known as the Borg.

I went through the WallyWorld in Alamosa, CO yesterday and found shelves full of NOTHING. There were a lot of indigenous people there, however.

BTW, diesel goes up $0.10/gal. every hundred miles above Dumas.

I am teetering on the verge of being off topic here but I filled up today and am still bothered. Diesel is starting to creep up in the DFW/North Dallas area too. Every time I fill up it goes up again....urrrrrgh.
