That is correct.

Your "legal" options are:

1. Dispatch them.
2. Transport them to a TAHC approved holding facility (sell them live).
3. Have a Vet test each animal for Brucellosis and Pseudo-rabies, then transport and release them elsewhere.

We don't do numbers 2&3, but I do make every effort to utilize the meat resource by contacting people interested in wild hogs.

Got a little action:

They have already started going into the trap. In a few more days…if it looks like they are going straight into the trap…I will set the trigger and see how many we get the first “go round”.

I repositioned the trail-cam this morning to get better shots of the inside the trap, so I should have a pretty good idea of the activity tomorrow.

Ideally, I’d like to catch this medium sized boar that is with the group (the boars are most difficult to trap).

Maybe you could afford that....but not me (or not for long). Remember, "an army travels on it's stomach".

Feeding an "army" of feral hogs... is an idea I don't want to entertain. ;-)

I saw a NatGeo report that said if all pigs were to be released to the wild, they would become leaner meaner and on of the most dominant preditors in the north American continent. Also they are very smart.

Yes, but its out of self defense and for a "limited" time. Once you see hog damage...it is in your best interest to immediately feed them into one spot...rather than continue to have them destroy what they want, where they want.

Once contained (if you can call it that), you can take measures to trap them or shoot them out.

As much as I am loath to personify animals...I do wonder sometimes if they don't do it for "pleasure or maybe spite". ;-)

They are a scourge....that is all I know for sure.

My wifes uncle has some land up near bonham - they had one heck of a hog problem - he kept trapping them for a couple years - had friends come over and help out... Crazy problem that grows with time -- it's really something you cant ignore..

oh I no the damage, when I was younger my family went on vacation and when we came back a week later our pasture was destroyed.

upon driving down our long road we came upon what looked like a bear in the dark, but it was a massive hog.

I wonder what my Henry would do to one of these little piggy's?

Could have caught these last night, but I think I'll wait a day or two until the entire group is more comfortable going right into the trap.

Is a hunting license needed to harvest hogs or what about hunter safety?
