WTB: Looking for a Springfield XD9 Subcompact

#1

Post by propellerhead »

I'm looking for an XD 9mm in a subcompact (3" barrel) for a friend of mine who is a single mom with two kids (ages 5 and 7). She will be making the purchase and it will be for her personal protection. She's pretty much settled on an XD 9. She's shot my XD9 Service model (4" barrel) many times and is comfortable with it.

DFW area for FTF preferred.

Thanks.

I've got one all tricked out. Let me know if she is still in the market.

She still is, but on a tight budget. Got pics? Price?

I don't have any pics and this is probably not the gun for her. because of the less than quality finish that XD's have, I had Robar refinish the metals with NP3. It makes it look like stainless, but slick. Also, the release, pins etc all are refinished. It has two IWB's, one is a High noon, the other is a K&D. The price on this jewel is $500.

Ok. She just needs a workhorse type XD9SC for around $300. Thanks anyway.

have you tried GunsAmerica.com? What about Taurus? They make a nice 9 in plastic.

She's shot my XD9 Service many times and is comfortable with it. She really likes the grip safety. I got her to shoot other rental guns and she's stuck on the XD. We'll try to catch one at a local gun show if we don't find one on here.

make sure she shoots the XD-9sc before she buys. I've not shot the service size but those two might be two different animals.

the grip safety is nice.

That's what I've been hearing but I can't find a rental XD9SC at the four ranges I go to. I might rent the "equivalent" Glock first.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, Plano is a long haul. Almost two hours from south Fort Worth. Elk Castle in west Fort Worth had one but they sell and replenish their rent guns quite frequently.

I've got a XD9SC with Insight Combo light, Pearce grip extensions that I could probably meet you somewhere like Quail Creek or Bass Pro Shop and let her shoot it. I am not currently interested in selling it, at least not without recouping all the add on costs.

I fired an XD9 SC the other day, had quite a kick for a 9mm. Probably due to the smaller frame.

The Marshal has one(the one I fired), but its a good haul over here. Its about a good solid hour from Burleson over to Garland/Mesquite.

Thanks for the offer. She still has to save up more for it anyway. I'm sure we'll find it in one of the rental places on this side of DFW.

Yeah Propellerhead, if you want to come this way, we can go shoot the little rascal.
Once you get comfortable shooting the SC, it is a consistent little pistol.
I found it more forgiving then the Kahr 9mm my buddy has.
