Lone Wolf Glock barrel swaps?
Thinking of getting a 9mm barrel for my g22. Anyone ever try this? Trying to save some money on ammo, and just can't do the .22 thing.

I put a couple hundred rounds through a G23 with a 9mm barrel from Storm Lake. Worked like a champ with 9mm mags. Worked most of the time with 9mm in 40cal mags. Different brand I know but the idea is sound.

Re: Lone Wolf Glock barrel swaps?
I have a 9mm barrel for my 23, got some 19 magazines. So I now have 2 calibers in one gun! Shouldn't be a problem!
It is a cliche that most cliches are true, but then like most cliches, that cliche is untrue.

Re: Lone Wolf Glock barrel swaps?
so the 19 fit the 23, right?
I bought g17 mags, I am hoping those are the ones for the g22.

Re: Lone Wolf Glock barrel swaps?
Not to hijack, but on a similar note, I just traded for a G19. I know it's safe to step down from .40 to 9mm, but what about swapping in a barrel and spring to go from 9mm to .40 cal? Can it be done? I've always liked the .40 cal for carry, but 9mm is cheaper and (slightly) easier to come by these days, plus the deal I got for the gun was too sweet to pass up.

Sorry, you can only step down .40 to 9mm. You cannot go 9mm to .40. The ejector is different on the two models and will only allow G22 to 9mm, G23 to 9mm, or g27 to 9mm.

Buy a G23 and you actually get three calibers in one gun with barrel swaps only. No need to change guide rods or springs. G23 will allow .40, 357sig, and 9mm. I don't know about reliability of the conversions. I am interested as well in responses about Lone Wolf conversions on the G23.

Kind of what I expected. What about a G23 slide, plus barrel and spring/guide rod? Is such a thing even available? I know you can get .22lr slide assemblies, but would a G23 slide work on a G17 frame?magicglock wrote:Sorry, you can only step down .40 to 9mm. You cannot go 9mm to .40. I've got the Lone Wolf 9 mm barrel for my G23. No problems with feeding using the 9mm magazines. Moderate luck using the .40 mags. Nice way to expand the usefulness of your Glock.

Re: Lone Wolf Glock barrel swaps?
I like a lot of what Lone Wolf sells but their barrels are not my favorite. If you're only going to shoot factory jacketed ammo, it should be fine. If you're a hand loader, you might have issues with their chamber dimensions. Out of the 3 Lonewolf barrels that've passed through my hands, NONE of them were reliable with my reloaded rounds. The same rounds that pass my tightest cartridge gauge and have run flawlessly in Bar-Sto, KKM, Storm Lake and EFK barrels. You can draw your own conclusions.
Of the 9mm conversion barrels that I've had for various Glocks, the KKM was the best. I recommend replacing the ejector with one for a 9mm pistol as well. It will still run 40 cal or 357 Sig just fine with a 9mm ejector.

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

Re: Lone Wolf Glock barrel swaps?
G23 slide will not work on a G17 frame. The spring/guide rod assembly on the G19 and G23 are identical so no reason to replace or swap. You would need a G23 slide and barrel and a conversion barrel back to 9mm. You cannot put a regular Glock 9mm barrel in a G23 as the chamber dimensions are not the same.txfireguy2003 wrote:

At the end of the day, you are better off doing one of two things: Buy a G23 with the conversion barrel to 9mm and you might as well by a Glock factory barrel for .357sig too for a 3 caliber weapon or keep the G19 and buy a G23 too. I know, decisions decisions! I have the G19 and G23 and now trying to decide between a G26 or Kahr PM9 for those occasions I can't conceal the G23 which is my primary carry. Bought and sold a Ruger LCP so I need a small carry gun again. LCP...Never again! I hope that helps.

Thanks magicglock, I appreciate the information. That's about what I figured, but thought I'd ask anyway.
