Of course, and that's why I was commenting on this thread. I figure many guys whose height is more than double their waist size and who wear kind of fashionable clothing are going to have a hard time with the party-line advice, as did I.
Not a problem for me. I wear Dockers and polo shirt frequently. Pocket carry is easy with a PM9. You must adapt your carry method to what you WANT to wear. No one can pull off IWB and tight clothing like you have stated you wear in previous posts. If you want to wear skin tight clothes, then you have to either carry off-body, an extremely small gun in the pocket or OWB with a cover shirt (my casual mode for colder weather), or in a lower pocket of cargo shorts.

Another plug for comp-tac: If you buy one of thier holsters and don't like it for any reason, you can send it back to them within 30 days for a full refund.

The main variables are body size/shape, clothing and carry location/style. Many people choose to vary their clothing to carry IWB. However, if body and clothing are held constant, then the modality of carry has to change to get satisfactory results.

I never said I wear skin-tight clothes! But certainly not polo shirts and Dockers. A PM9 would absolutely not work in my pants pocket and a Ruger LCP is an uncomfortable and unsightly stretch. But IWB at 4:00 with a CW9 and FIST K3 works like a champ, even with the most snug (not skin-tight, but not loose either) T-shirts. Normally I am wearing a button-down shirt with the tail out. No sweat to conceal that way.

The impression I'm getting is that with IWB there might be fewer less drastic changes to one's wardrobe. Before CHL I never wore two shirts. I carry either OWB (95%) or fanny-pack (5%). Only rarely could I find a "hawaiian" style shirt that I liked, so mostly wear denim button over shirts. I actually have an XLT denim shirt that, because it is a little longer, looks pretty good. Some of the shorter shirts that are XL or XXL tend to look a little wide at the hips because of the weapon. The extra length of the XLT hides this a little better.

I'm seriously considering an IWB MTAC in the hopes of being able to wear a single polo style shirt with jeans or docker type slacks.

BTW, 6'1" - 200 lb athletic build. I do think my body style makes it easier to conceal.

As I mentioned in the first post of this thread, I had recently purchased a Fobus roto paddle style holster. There is simply one things that this thing is good for...open carry! Not a "conceal" holster in the least.

After going through my infamous drawer of unwanted holsters, I came across the very first holster I purchased (for my specific gun, not just a generic/one size fits all style holster) and I re-discovered my IWB leather holster made by High Noon Holsters. Simple design, leather, small, one clip for belt. I think all my problems may be solved. I have worn this holster for 3 days and so far, have really liked it. The undershirt is a must to prevent chafing, etc. After a few days I have forgotten it was there.

There is some "tightness" around the waist due to the fact that this foreign object has never been there. Simple solution...The next time I have to buy pants, I will just compensate for this.

Again, I truly appreciate everyone’s input on this matter. I can honestly say that I probably never would have reconsidered this specific holster if it was not for all the input I have received. Thank you again!!

This is the method that I use to carry a Glock 19. It's the custom Defender Bellyband and you can get it here: http://www.activeprogear.com/custom-def.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I wear mine right over the label on the jeans and I'm 5'10" and 175 lbs.

Based on my experience, I find the Defender more comfortable over a couple of Galco IWB holsters that I have. This method as shown (if you're right handed) also keeps the muzzle from crossing your body when you draw. That's something that I realized $120 and 2 holsters later and really is something to keep in mind when considering IWB holsters. If you're forced to use your weapon you don't want the muzzle crossing your body when you draw and inadvertently shooting yourself in the heat of the moment.

Couple of things about concealed carry if it's in your waistband:
1. Buy your pants 2 sizes larger than you normally wear which helps make it a bit more comfortable
2. Wear an undershirt to keep the leather/plastic/gun from digging into your skin as bad. Either way it's going to rub and gouge you, especially at the end of a long day.

Keep in mind that it's really not comfortable to carry concealed and that with any method there is a trade off in speed, comfort and concealability. You have to decide for yourself which is most important and dress around that method. I can tuck a shirt in fine with the Defender but find that it can print when I stand after sitting so I make sure to slightly blouse my shirt to help hide this.

As my CHL instructor said, "Be prepared to look like a slob". It does make it easier to conceal if you leave your shirt untucked and I have no problems concealing with a pair of shorts and a T-shirt with this method. None of my co-workers realize when I'm carrying (shirt tucked in with polo's) nor my neighbors when I'm more casual at home. Hell, my mother and mother-in-law have no clue that I carry around them and as I stated earlier this is the most comfortable method I've found (which means that it's slightly to moderately uncomfortable but you get used to it).

I hope that you or anyone else finds this helpful.

Welcome to the forum, R of T! Glad to have you aboard!

That's something to consider. Thanks for posting url. The small of back is something that interests me, as I'm not very big....5'8" and 160 or there abouts. Unless I wear a jacket(ugghhh), I'm considering everything I can. IWB seems the way to go, as I'm really a jeans and shirt type guy, mainly t-shirts but that may have to change. I jus dunno, ya know?

Anywho, hope to hear more from you. Ciao!

I occasionally carry SOB, I only carry my my 92FS that way its a big gun in a big holster. I find it uncomfortable when driving, more than a few minutes, but it is my favorite method of carry when I'm doing a lot of walking around. I would pay a lot of attention to your draw, and make sure you don't point the gun at your self when drawing, Practice makes perfects

I too had a PT111 Pro 9mm, great gun. Got tired of trying locally to find a descent holster for less than $50.00 to carry with me IWB. I got fed up and ultimately traded it up so I could get me a hunting rifle. It was a great gun, shot wonderfully, and concealed great.... with the right holster.

I've heard great things about the CTAC as well as the CrossBreed. Mark Craig is actually a forum sponsor on XDTalk, and has a lot of info (FAQs) and is quite personable for the most part about the holsters he manufactures. They are in all forms, as the holster portion is kydex material, riveted to a horse hide or cow hide leather backing. His holsters can be made to most any firearm on the market to date, and has them for the Taurus PT111 Pro as well as the 145.

I'm not advertising for another forum, but at least you could browse around his forum store to get an idea about the holster and any complaints (which I'm sure are because people do not carry them all that frequently).

I will look into a PT111 Pro again if I could get the magazines for about 15$ cheaper where I am locally (and shipping from internet sites right now is ridiculous).

I may just stay with the XD SC since that's what I have for the magazine issue... but nonetheless... CTAC/MTAC (sorry) are great, and so are the Don Hume. I'd say find some folks on here that live near ya, set up a group shoot, and try out the holsters yourself :)

Good excuse to get out and meet like minded individuals and shoot some paper!

I've got my Glock 26 in that exact holster right now. It's very comfortable; can hardley tell it's there.

Even though I am a rather large man I found out quickly that an IWB was best for me. I have since ordered two supertuck holsters from Hoffners Holsters in Houston. I do not like tight shirts but I also do not like tents either. You have to place an order and it takes about a week or so to get your holster. They are very customer service friendly and will work with you to make the best product for you body style. Mine are very comfortable and I wear them anytime I am not at work, yes even at home. Give them a call and talk with them I think you will be pleased.

I have a CompTac Infidel for my 1911 full size. The only thing I have a problem is the "shirt shield" portion of the holster jabs me in the kidney when I sit. I'm debating a modification.

I've ordered an MTAC for my G26.
