In a nut shell..... drastic increases to cost of produce energy buy requiring companies to buy emission "permits" in order to produce those carbon emissions. Those permits can cost an arm and a leg depending on location, party affiliation and any other criteria they want to include. Higher energy costs get passed to the end consumer as producers increase retail prices to cover their increased cost. This doesnt even include the costs that will get passed onto the consumer to cover energy alternative improvements, etc.
Example if today it costs $250 to make your 1911 with current energy costs under the proposed plan if energy costs skyrocket (as they are estimated to do) then the potential new cost to make your 1911 could be $500. That increase will get passed onto the end consumer in the way of increased purchase prices to cover the inflated production costs.
ETA: You will see this occur from any and everything that requires energy (that produces carbon) to make its product which as I sit here I can not think of anything that doesnt at least use electricity meaning everything from the loaf of bread to gal of milk to Xylophone production costs will increase resulting in increased purchase prices to cover the added expense.

Oh I almost forgot the Fed Government will be able to allocate how many "permits" get issued to each state which could also drive the price (supply in demand concept) of everything in that state, and the allocation will be abused and used to reward those loyal states and punish those "rebel" states who buck the "status quo". Reports already show costs to Texans would be astronomical compared to those in New York who could see a potential drop in costs.

Cap and Tax...nitrogen wrote:Please explain how cap and trade affects my guns?
Since no one has been able to read the thing...I am interested to know how vague the tax code is going to be altered to tax certain things we all hold near and dear to our hearts...
The devil is in the details...And if "firearms and ammo" are not specifically enumerated within that piece of legislation, then vaguarities are something that some people in the government love to exploit...
Remember, things that have effected us the most, were things hidden in the details in bills like this...
This country and its citizens are being beaten to death with these new policies (spending and taxing), and those of us willing to fight it are losing depth and numbers, and all of this depresses everything this country stands for in the process, no one in great numbers to vote this into a corrective condition are going to really want to in the future...No country has ever spent its way into prosperity, and never will...And over-taxing to pay for a failure on the way, is like putting 6 rounds into a revolver and telling the 6 people around the table, "Now lets see who goes first?"
Thats just the way I see it...
And yeah, as usual, I hope I am wrong...
