Darn, I forgot all about the gun show in Odessa. Was there a good turn out? Out this way you would never think that we would have a background check problem, but today is my 100th day for Presidio County.

We certainly don't have a DPS problem out here, heck we have more LEO's then citizens!

the turn out wasn't bad at the gun show, just everything way way  over priced. i seen a box of .380 blazin brass 50 rounds for $49.95!!!!!!!!!, primers were $120 for a 1000, a bunch of assault rifles.

We prefer to call them Semi-Automatic Sport or Black rifles here

"Assault Rifle" was a term invented by The Brady bunch & Co to make them seem 'scary' and insinuate that they have no purpose then mass killing of people.

Just FYI :thumbs2:

I forgot who it was that said:

"They'll never take away your hunting rifles... they'll call them Sniper Rifles first"

Not true, "Assaut Rifle" has been around since around the time Sarah Brady was born, it supposedly was first applied by Hitler to a new gun, the MP44, which he called a Sturmgewehr or "Storm Rifle" and it has been a recognized term, with a specific definition since that time.

I have seen Class III dealers at shows, showing true Assault Rifles.

The Brady bunch and their ilk used "assault rifle" to mean just about any rifle for many years, until they finally realized that they were losing part of their audience because of their semantic gaffe, and then they took on "Assault Weapon" which has no real definition and has been applied to a .22 rim fire with a hand grip, flash hider, and removable magazine and to an M1 Garand (which is, by strict definition, a "Battle Rifle.")

Don't feel bad JB.....I'm on day 117 in Midland County. Last time I checked on the status of my plastic, they said every thing was back....except my county background check. I'm temted to go down to the DPS office out on the loop and see if I can't get these guys in to a higher gear...If you know what I mean.
