Sorry about not posting this.... But I went out to Ralph Williams Shooting Range last Sunday.

I followed the directions to a " T ".
I-75 Central Expressway North out of McKinney.
Exist Hwy 381 in Howe, Texas.
Follow East a block or two to FM 902.
Follow FM 902 out of Howe, Texas... all the way into Tom Bean, Texas.

You'll know when you are close when you pass the Tom Bean, Texas City Limit Sign.
The Range is located at FM 902 and Joe Bob Street.
Northwest Corner.

There are no signs for the Range... other than a very Large Metal Building, a big RV of sorts, and the Big Yellow Bus.

There's a big mound of dirt to catch all the Ammo.
Lots of shot up wood to mount Targets to. Create your own set-up that works.

A Table is located at about 25 Yards.
A Table is located at about 100 Yards... this table has a Metal Cover to protect from the Sun.
They even have a Skeet Area.

Yes it is based on an " Honor System ".
There's a little metal shack with signs all over it... " Pay $3.00 blah blah blah "
"Pick up your Trash "
Basically... clean up after yourself, since your mother doesn't work here.
There's a metal drop box to put your money in... which I did and spent 2 hours blasting some targets.
Best $3.00 I spent on a Sunday Morning.

Two other shooters showed up while I was there.
We shared time up close with our pistols... and then spent time shooting the .223 at 100 Yards.
They were some more people that had the same story.... " We're Never Going Back to The Bullet Trap ".

It was 38 miles from my house in Princeton, Texas.
Next Time I am probably going to find some backroads to enjoy the trip a little more.

If anyone wants to go.... let me know... I might tag along with you.
This is certainly the type of place a group of friends can enjoy shooting.

Things I will take with me next time I go out there:
Sun Tan Lotion
Cooler full of Ice Water
Hammer and Nails
Staple Gun
Shoot N See Targets

I might even cut some fresh 2x4's to mount Targets to.

I have a few pics... but they are on my cell phone!!!!! Grrrrrrr.

Great write up super8neon, thank you for doing that.
Glad to hear that you had a good time and all was good.

Yes, if you could borrow someone's GPS unit, I think you would find that there are some back roads out of Princeton that would take you there. Would most probably be a more scenic drive, especially on your motorcycle.

One question though.......you mentioned the sign said to pick up your trash. Did that include brass? Just curious if everyone picked up their brass.

Thanks again! :txflag:

I am planning to be there tomorrow sat July 4th between 6.30AM-10 AM while it still cool and the sun is tolerable. I will have my friend as a guest. I will shoot and try to Zero a Gamo Air rifle and shoot my carry pistol.

Is there some shaded area? a rest area to stop and rest?

Please post some pictures.

He took some pictures but they are on his cell phone and I guess there is a problem transferring those for us to see.

If you go on Saturday, would you please take and post some pictures here?

Thanks! :tiphat:

You don't need to worry about your brass.... just your trash.
Although the guys I were shooting with last week picked theirs up because they do their own reloads.

The 100 Yard Table has a large metal awning you can set underneath.

I didn't see any rest stops along the way... but there is a quickie mart at 75 and 381 with some odds and ends.

Don't forget to make the list and pack accordingly.... all that stuff will help you deal with the Hot Weather we are encountering in Texas.

Good Luck and I hope you guys have fun... When I go back again, I know for sure I'll be having even more fun.

Maybe you could email them to someone and have them post them.

send them to me and I'll post them. I think my email is open from this forum.

Cool. The place looks nice and clean and grass is kept mowed well.

If it were mine, I would put a few more tables under the awning.

I wonder if a spinning target (picture attached) is considered steel? I kinda doubt it, but would like to know what others think. I think he is talking about steel plates being banned.

Thanks for the pictures! You need to do something about that acne on your face!
