Re: Introduce yourself
Hello all,
I discovered this forum several weeks ago and have since immersed myself in trying to read every posting in each and every thread. It may not be possible. So many postings..... So little time. However, this forum is an inexhaustible body of helpful information. Not to mention the humor and the comments on the human condition.
Although I did receive some handgun training decades ago, (it was military and minimal, although I was a skeet champion, which is a story for another time). I have been away from it until recently. Last week, I took my CHL test and mailed out the application on July 4th.
Brief synopsis:
I live in College Station (moved from Friendswood), Dallas-born and raised.
Married - 1 daughter
I guess you could say that I am a strict "Constitutionalist", including 2A. I own pistols and long guns (not fired for many years), with the latest and recent addition being a Bersa Thunder 9mm, which I used for my range qualification. I believe that everyone should have a semi-automatic at least once in their life. I decided go get back into gunnery because of demographics- I became old(ish); and I realized that, regardless of how I may perceive myself, others may see me as "prey" because of apparent age or a multitude of other reasons.
My self-image is that I am either a "wolf" with (maybe)a conscience, or a "sheepdog" with a dash of rotweiller. Or maybe I am in reality a "sheep", with attitude. Others could see me as a Caspar Milquetoast
Anyway, I'm glad I found you.

Re: Introduce yourself
My family and I lived there from 1974-1988. Actually, I "lived" at Clover Field or Spaceland, and my family resided in a sub-division off of Quaker Rd. We were in Friendswood 2 weeks ago, visiting the old neighbors.
Seems like I saw a reference to your being a pilot. What are you flying?
I had a Grumman Traveler and later a Grumman Tiger that I hangared there. I am still a pilot, just not currently active. Or not actively currrent?

Re: Introduce yourself
58
Male
Electronics Technician
Divorced
Applied for CHL FEB. 2009 (Still waiting)
Glock 19 / Taurus PT1911SS
Every since the Carry License was available I have thought about getting one. I travel into all kinds of neighborhoods in my work and walked into a holdup once in the 70's. My hesitation was not knowing exactly how to do it. I found out a colleague of mine had his license and was an avid shooter. He gave me some direction and I decided to do it. Also, with the new president etc. etc. etc.
I bought a Glock 19 and 5 weeks later took my class. Sent in the package Feb. They received it Feb. 12. Still processing.
A couple of weeks ago I bought a Taurus PT1911SS. I have always been interested in the 1911 since my Army days. I have an IWB holster for the Glock on order and hope it arrives soon. I go to the range at least once a month and had been going at least once a week until I took the class. Actually, any good excuse to go and I will!
I also play music in Church and have been around music for decades.
