Like Keith I'll say "It ain't so."Oldgringo wrote:We're fixin' to travel the Oregon coast and Columbia River gorge next month. As I read the Oregon info on the handgunlaw.us site, we are not only barred from CC but we can't even carry a handgun in the truck or the RV ???![]()

How do you carry in Texas? If you carry on the dashboard with a handkerchief concealing it or on a string on your neck inside your shirt, those might work okay for you in Oregon. On the other hand, if you carry in a holster in Texas then you can carry in a holster in Oregon also. Just don't hide it.Oldgringo wrote:Upon further review, I find that Oregon is an open carry state. I reckon the pistol on the dashboard of the truck or on a string around my neck (outside of the shirt) is okay?

Unless you're ashamed of your carry gun.
I think you worry too much. Oregon passed "shall issue" concealed carry 5-6 years before Texas and prior to that they had "may issue" concealed carry licensing. Thunder Ranch also moved to Oregon from Texas and I don't think they would move to an antigun location.Oldgringo wrote:I'd really hate for some die-hard left-wing liberal OSP or Deputy Sherrif confiscating my LW Springer Compact .45 AND the other guns in the RV just because I'm a redneck gun-nut from Texas who didn't vote for Obama and/or legalized MaryJane on the left coast.
...and Oregon recognizes no other state's CHL...but may issue non-resident permits to the four (4) neighboring states...cling wrote:I think you worry too much. You may be on to something...no kidding. For instance, how does one open carry in the car or truck? The "heater" will get hot on the dashboard - for sure.dicion wrote:Thats why 1911's with lanyard loops are AWESOME...Oldgringo wrote:...or on a string around my neck (outside of the shirt) is okay?
