Thank you but I'm really not that interested. I'll just go in for lunch next week and check it out, and report back.

My wife's there right now having lunch. I asked her to check for signs, but i doubt she'll remember.

Ok, LB means mixed beverage, late hours. Thanks!
Not so fast, keep reading. It's what is NOT listed that IS important to know. Hint "FB".

I would not carry in there given what is shown on the TABC web site until I had more information (personally saw the actual license).
While the presence of a FB, food and beverage permit does mean it is NOT a 51%, lack of one does not mean that it IS.
You can be <51%, and have a LB, with no FB. a FB permit gives the location certain exemptions. It is optional, and not required for a non-51% location.

The only way to 100% know for sure, is to actually go and look at their license. Until someone does that, it is still not 100%.

As I was in the neighborhood, I went in there today. I met with the owner and he showed me his liquor license. It's a green TABC license, and as stated earlier, it's for a mixed beverage, and mixed beverage, late hours license.

I saw no blue sign or red "51%" sign at all. But I did see a very old "no guns allowed" sign. It looked like it was at least 15 or 20 years old, I kid you not. From memory it quoted PC46.02(I think, don't hold me to that).

I spoke to him in length about it and had a very friendly and cordial conversation regarding it. I even asked him if I should patronize his establishment, with him knowing that I will become a CHL holder.

By the time we had finished our conversation, for some strange reason, I became very thirsty and went back into the beer hall to quench my thirst. And much to my surprise, they only had 20 spigots of draft beer coming out of the wall, not the 40 I originally reported. What can I say? I'm a Texan, and I reserve the right for literary privilege. The Text is on the license itself, about halfway down. It says:

"Sign = Blue"
or
"Sign = Red"

Did you see either of those on the actual license? One of them Has to be there.

To be honest with you dicion, no I didn't, sorry to say. I really didn't know what I was looking at. But I'll be sure to notice it tomorrow when I go in there to....well when I get thirsty again. Thanks for the tip. I'll scrutinize it much more carefully.

Dicion, you are absolutely correct. It is on the sign.

I went into Gilligan's today to talk to the owner again, about CHL as it applies to the store. He's a super nice guy, and so is his mom(he introduced me. She's the CFO.)

Sure enough, on their green permit, in the middle of it are the typed words:

SIGN = BLUE

It's printed, and smack dab in the middle of the permit.

Case solved, and Dicion, you only have to tell me 3 times before it sinks in. :lol: My hat's off to ya! :tiphat:

I will be frequenting that establishment in confidence.

Thanks Joe 817, and the "Blue" sign covers both the left (food side) and right (bar side) of the entire
establishment? Fantastic. It's also interesting. I was in Arlington for lunch today. I didn't have time
to check out J. G's again personally. So, you doing the leg work helps me out for next time I need a
house burger & fries.
