I got tired of waiting!!! It's done......

Re: I got tired of waiting!!!
Actually, they can't afford it.. all those app fees go to pay for dps costs around the state, they go to the general dps fund. you're paying troopers salaries as much as anything. And it's strickly up to congress to determine their budget and how many people they can hire. DPS is a much bigger place then people think. We all share your fustration, but to hire more people or pay money to upgrade their systems Does in fact take an act of congress literally.

Then perhaps congress ought do what it takes to meet the law!infoman wrote:Actually, they can't afford it.. all those app fees go to pay for dps costs around the state, they go to the general dps fund. you're paying troopers salaries as much as anything. If congress had anything to do with it, it would cost twice as much and delays would be twice as long. At least.frjeff wrote:Then perhaps congress ought do what it takes to meet the law!

Re: I got tired of waiting!!!
I started to post earlier this week, then deleted the post, thus the "nevermind" entry.....
I got a call from DPS this past Monday. My license was approved, and it was sent to the printers. the license should go out in a week from this past Monday.
My .02 cents? Stand up, be a "civil" voice, and speak up for yourselves. As to the comments "for the common good" and being "flustered too early in the process".....if enough of us stand up to our government and make them be accountable to the standard of the law to which we are held, then good things will happen.
I hope to have plastic in hand early next week. Today was day 60.
Peace.

I agree. As one of my former military co-horts (the marine in this post) said - the squeaky wheel gets greased! Not only true in the Navy/USMC, but out in our civilian settings as well. As Chucky said - do it with decorum and hold people accountable. I will go take my CHL class tomorrow and will start counting the days on Monday. Will do follow ups and will let y'all know how it goes.chuckybrown wrote:if enough of us stand up to our government and make them be accountable to the standard of the law to which we are held, then good things will happen.

Good luck with the class. The shooting part is a lot of fun and the classroom session was very helpful and interesting. I am sure you will ace them both...then the real challenge comes....deal with the TxDPSNAVY CHIEF wrote:I agree. As I've said before, be sure to not give them an excuse to request more information. You cannot send them too much. Send your ID, any 214's you have, if any, 256'es, current orders, everything.
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

Re: I got tired of waiting!!!
I wish you the best of luck. I was told mine went to the printers and 30 days later I still didn't have it. It wound up being 99 days for me last year.chuckybrown wrote:I started to post earlier this week, then deleted the post, thus the "nevermind" entry.....
