Another resturant that don't want my business

#1

Post by dutchman »

'Chilii's' resturant in Greenville has an illegal sign on the door glass. It is out of the way, and hard to see. Small print says it is from the Texas Licquor Control board. It is not a '51%', sign nor is there a '51%' sign anywhere else.

'Chili's' was my favorite quicky resturant. They make an 'oldtimer' hamburger that closely resembles a true old time greasy, toasted bun, loaded with garden stuff. Oh, well.

It seems that most things that I like are either too costly, illegal or don't work any more. Golden years hell. That is rust you are seeing.:(

If you go to the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) website, there is a place to leave questions/comments. You might want to mention it to them.

If it is really the wrong sign, they will be interested to know about it. Might take several weeks to hear back from them, but they will look into it - if my experience is an indicator.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Andrew

PS Hamburgers at the Chili's around here, west of Houston - Sugar Land, Rosenberg - are nothing special. I'd love to find a hamburger like you just described... gotta stop drooling on my keyboard...

I don't remember, but was something about no guns allowed and was signed by TLCB. I was on my way out when I saw it and just grinned. I was wearing a .45 under a golf shirt that didn't really cover it.

TABC issues TWO standardized signs. The law says the "51%"er must have the numbers in 5" tall red type. The other sign starts out with "The UNLICENSED (emphasis mine) carry ... ". I suspect the latter is what you saw.

Yeah if it's an 'unlicensed posession' those are just standard TABC signs issued to businesses that sell alcohol that don't qualify for the 51% rule. No impact on CHL holders with that one.

The only sign I've seen at Chili's in SAT is the "Unlicensed possession of ..." No effect on me.

The whole signage issue in this State really has had its ups and downs as far as being able to fully understand why we need them and how best to comply with the posting of those signs...

I think the 51% issue has been the clearest, and best understood statues in the CHL law we have...Although there are some places which post it incorrectly. I think that is done out of ignorance, and in most cases that is not a damnable offence by a business owner in that regard...

What corrects that, is an aggressive enforcement of the statute by the correct organization...

I'm encouraged to know, and have seen others that have called, the BATF folks about incorrect or questionable posting of that sign, and that their investigations, are for the most part, timely and conclusive...

Unlike the dreaded 30.06 signage...The confusion and outright abuse of that statute scream for the State to come in and really get a hold of that situation...Instead we have municipalities and other organizations continually and blatantly thumb their noses, daring the State to come in and enforce the correct implemetation of that statute...

It confuses me, somewhat, as to why we have good implementation and enforcement of one statute within a law, and another statute which is poorly implemented and poorly enforced within the very same law...

To me it like being on the verge of "civil disobedience"...If the government can't get the law straightened out to where we can carry a firearm under the protection of a law, then why should we need a law to begin with??? If we're doing it under a law (that has a few flaws), and somehow it creates further ambiguities, why do we really need that law???

There are 250,000 people (test cases) in this State who have no intent to commit crimes or other illegalities, we do this under a law...If we don't have a law, what really changes about those people???

Its a quandry where I find myself asking, "if an act is not illegal, why do we need a law to define whether it is legal or illegal to do so, after the fact?"

Kinda goes back to the old statement, of "...life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness...".

The definition of that statement in regards to the legality or illegality of self-preservation (i.e.: life) is not necessary...

I'm going to defend myself, my family, my friends and my country under the auspices of good moral judgement whether or not we have a law to do so...And do it with any means at my disposal...

If there is a segment of the citizenship in this country that does not wish to do so...Thats their choice, not mine...I'm not going to tell someone they "have" to have a gun, and learn how to use it...

I tire of them telling me, and creating immoral laws, stating that I cannot...

Man...Did I just write all this???

Ehhh, just ignore me...

Two Finger Typing

Both of my sausage fingers are unaffected by caffeine.

I can appreciate how the AR and NR come about. It happens all of the time in my world. The wife complains that my cursing and talking back to the TV does no good. It used to annoy her immensely.

This last election, I caught her calling John Scary a commie liar while listening to one of his speeches, and I believe it was centered around his being a sportsman, and he was holding a shotgun at the time. I sort of chuckled and told her she was migrating to my side of the force.

Rant on!

Yours does that to you also???

I guess thats why I catch her watching that mind-numbing, touchy feel-good bull coming out of National news, Oprah, Ellen, Will and Grace, and reruns of Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, et. al...

I don't really say anything to her about those programs...

Where my TV time is spent getting partial (halfway decent information) from FoxNews, and I am entertained once a week on "24"...Thats all I do in front of that thing...

I wish I could say my life is "less" complicated than that...
