so i should be getting my license this week sometime.. i got me a comp-tac belt and crossbreed supertuck for my g27. also got a spare mag holder. today i tried it all on with mags loaded, i wanted to get a feel for it all. it was bulky and heavy..my question is: for those that have carried for a while, how long did it take to get used to it all?

Re: new chl'r
I've heard said "it aint suppose to be comfortable.....just comforting".
Seriously, I daily carry a hi-point C9 9mm IWB at 8'oclock (I am a lefty) and you get use to it after a short time. Wear a good belt and remember no one knows you have a gun unless you go nuts touching it every 2 seconds

Re: new chl'r
For me I also carry a Glock 27 in a Don Hume IWB holster in the 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock on my right side
got used to it right away , like what was said get a good belt ( I have a 5.11 tactical belt ) for good support and you`ll be fine.
Plus don`t go grabbing it all the time kinda gives it away , I usually check it as I get out of my vehicle because I have a truck holster under the seat that holds a second holster. So its there while I drive and goes in the holster when I get out.

Before long, you will forget you have it on. I carried in a shoulder rig that a friend made for my first year, then bought a Crossbreed Supertuck for the PT145. The shoulder rig is now in the infamous "used to work" drawer, along with a Don Hume IWB that I didn't like and a paddle holster I will use (maybe) when hog hunting.
Congrats on the new plastic!

Welcome aboard friend.
Carrying your gun plus a spare mag or 2 seems somewhat unnatural at first, but you get over
that as time goes on. It won't take too long until you have to privately feel for your gun to make
sure that it's on you.
You may feel everyone in public KNOWS that you are carrying. But as long as your rig/clothing
are properly concealing, believe us here when we say that the rest of the world is clueless.
People are immersed in their own daily dramas, and trying to "make" a CHL who's carrying is not
anywhere in their thought pattern.
I used to think my mid-frame sized Taurus Millienium was the biggest that I could ever carry, but
some of the members here nicely provided some photos of themselves using both IWB and OWB's
packing 1911's. It can be done. My moveup gun will be bigger than what I carry now.

Re: new chl'r
I second what the others have said.
Yesterday I attended church in kakhis and polo shirt with three guns concealed. (Don't ask! lol) Nobody even knew I was carrying (except maybe the preacher who knows I carry most of the time).
In short time you get used to carrying and feel strange when you can't.

Re: new chl'r
Welcome G17.
I've carried a g27 for almost 7 years now and a double mag carrier with 2 15 round mags as much as legally possible. The first few weeks I had my plastic I carried my g22 OWB and shoulder rig. I'm not aware of anyone other than my wife being aware of this except for once with the shoulder rig. I leaned forward a little too much and they could have seen the grip if they were looking. If they did notice it they did not say anything to me or anyone else.
I current'y carry IWB most of the time and OWB the rest. I didn't think I would like IWB until reading about it here. This has actually much expanded my clothing choices for carry. I can wear pullover shirts and don't have to rely on Hawaiin or bowling shirts and over the last couple of years I've lost enough weight I haven't had to by any new jeans or slacks to accomodate the IWB. It seems like we're always looking for our next holster or method of carry.

LOL!
That sounds like this group! I laughed about it (thanks!
) but I would be trying to figure out how I would get that many guns strapped on too!
BTW, what church is it, "United Church of Meet Your Maker"? (just kidding of course)

Re: new chl'r
OK, OK....it was a test run to see if anyone would notice...one went unnoticed pretty easily, two went unnoticed too so the next step was three. I now know I can safely not leave any of the firearms behind if needed. I am going to stop there as my pants nearly gave in! That was way too much weight to carry. Hmmm maybe a safe would help?
I can only imagine that with 17 hidden I wouldn't be able to even walk!
I go to a 'huggy' church and I was surprised that no-one noticed. I did get a few ladies that kept smiling at me thoughout the service though.
