Re: September 2009 Applications
Making progress, just did my evening check on the DPS website for my application status and it has changed to "Processing Application" So far so good, it's only been 17 days since I mailed it to them. I wasn't expecting it to get to this point for 3-4 weeks. Maybe they're getting a handle on the volume of applications or it's slowing down some. Gonna keep my fingers crossed that it goes smoothly from here on out.

Re: September 2009 Applications
81Aggie....for you....
For me... and all the other who still have "packet mailed to applicant" on their status......
Tomorrow...I will endeavor to go half the day without checking. If I can do that, maybe I can build up to only checking once a day before I go to bed. Baby steps.....baby steps. I will remind myself...I have nothing to whine about. There are other fine folks on this board who have waited much longer and are exhibiting the patience of Job. To them, I humbly tip my hat.

Re: September 2009 Applications
Thanks. Looks like there's only a few days difference between you guys and me so things should update soon. Know what you mean about checking all the time, I started out checking several times a day and finally got down to just looking in the evening. I'll try to keep that up, don't want to drive myself crazy.

Re: September 2009 Applications
Wouldn't ya know it - I start to get snarky about the delay from receipt to processing, and mine changes to processing. I still think they could work faster.
If they don't find anything wrong with my application, I could be looking at mid/late November for plastic. Now the really tense waiting begins. Is my application okay? I looked at my pics and prints before I sent them, and they certainly seemed fine to me. Did I sign everything that needed signing? Did I fart at the correct point while filling out the application?
They claim that the FBI check is now the bottleneck. As many times as I've had a background check int he last 10 years (working for a defense contractor), you'd think they'd have my data in their "Favorites" menu. :)

Took class, paid fees, changed my mind. I want constitutional carry.
Re: September 2009 Applications
Wow, it appears that we are exactly one week difference. The DPS must process these things in big batches. It seems that a bunch of people who submit their apps in a certain time frame all meet a new status at the same time...jsimmons wrote:Wouldn't ya know it - I start to get snarky about the delay from receipt to processing, and mine changes to processing. Re: September 2009 Applications
Maybe we need to get "snarkier", might speed things up Yeah, I'm also hoping for mid/late November now if nothing goes wrong. I'd originally figured if I had plastic by year's end that would be good. Also checked my application umpteen times before mailing it, I know it was complete but still worry about the dreaded "photos or fingerprints unusable". Haven't ever had a problem with a background check for a gun purchase, no reason for one to occur now. Fingers crossed for all of us.jsimmons wrote:Wouldn't ya know it - I start to get snarky about the delay from receipt to processing, and mine changes to processing. Re: September 2009 Applications
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but recently sent off my application for my CHL. Class was taken 09-12-2009, app mailed to DPS 09-14-2009 and was delivered 09-16-2009. I have been assigned a PIN and check it more than I should each day, waiting for the status to change. Hopefully it isn't too long of a wait, but hey we're talking about DPS here.

Re: September 2009 Applications
HI stevo, and welcome to the forum! There's a wealth of information here and a great bunch of people to get to know here while you're waiting on your license.
And I know EXACTLY what you mean by checking to much, if there's any such thing.

Hey stevo, welcome to the forum. Let me ask you, how long did it take for you to receive your PIN? Looks like I am about 2 weeks behind you. I keep checking the mail but no PIN yet.

Re: September 2009 Applications
Ammo Two, I received my PIN 10-10-2009 by mail. Hopefully you receive yours soon. I, just like others was expecting it to take 4-6 weeks as I was told by the secretary at DPS and was surprised that it got here sooner than 6 weeks.
And thanks for the welcome Joe817, I'm glad to see that I will not sit through the waiting time alone!
