Why? Them having a cow is their right. Just like it is your right to carry. You are not responcible for their reactions - just for your own.1TallTXn wrote:Well, I just got home. They nearly had a cow when I showed the security guy my CHL. guess I'll leave it in the truck BEFORE I go in in the morning.

When I handed my CHL to the security guy at the metal detector he told me to talk to the supervisor. no reaction here. The supervisor looked at the CHL then looked again. Got a wide eyed look and asked if I had "it" with me. I said yes, and his eyes got bigger and told me I wasn't allowed to have that in the building. I returned to the vehicle and stowed the gun there.
I didn't bother trying again today.
Anybody else go to PK? I had a really good time and came away blessed.

I just returned also. AAC does NOT have 30.06 signs, but I was told the same as the others here, only I did not have my weapon on me.
I wonder what they would have done if I had simply walked on in had I been carrying.
They could arrest under 30.05 as it indicates;
Text
(f) It is a defense to prosecution under this section that:
(1) the basis on which entry on the property or land or in the
building was forbidden is that entry with a handgun was forbidden; and
(2) the person was carrying a concealed handgun and a license
issued under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, to carry a
concealed handgun of the same category the person was carrying.
A defense tp prosecution means I would have to prove I met the defense in court. It is clearly arrestable.
Charles, another thing for '07?
And PK was fantastic; although, a little short.

Sheesh, the things you city people put up with!
There are only two occasions where I will have to clear a metal detector: one, if I lose my stinkin' mind and decide to travel by air; two, if I am called for jury duty.
I can't imagine willingly going to an entertainment venue --especiallly for a religious service!-- that requires me to pass through a metal detector.

Re: Promise Keepers-Dallas
i was there both days. i was wearing a black shirt with a badge on it. about 30% of the security people were actual police officers. those of us packing heat were escorting money back and forth; and making a rather big show of it that most of us didn't agree with. there were several officers from area agencies, and at least 4 federal agents.txinvestigator wrote:Anyone else going? August 11 and 12.
CHL related comment>>>>>>>>>>>> American Airlines Center is 30.06 posted and uses metal detectors, so be sure to have a safe place to secure your handgun.
they made us tuck our shirts in (i guess to pretend like we weren't carrying), so the first day i had to stuff that big beretta in my b/c with my shirt tucked over it.
one guy told me about the security detail at one in houston. what a horror show. some guy rounded up homeless people to work security.
