Anybody know anything about this gun?
FEG - PA-63, .9x18 I saw this gun today for about 100.00 dollars figured it might be fun for the little sister to shoot or just a throw down.

I picked one up about 4 months ago, it has been a very reliable piece. Probably have around 300 rounds through without any problems. For $100 I'd say you have found a pretty good deal providing there isn't anything wrong with it.tauruspt145 wrote:FEG - PA-63, .9x18 I saw this gun today for about 100.00 dollars figured it might be fun for the little sister to shoot or just a throw down.

Re: Anybody know anything about this gun?
Yes, the 9x18 bullet is also known as the 9mm Makarov. However, don't confuse the actual Makarov pistol for the FEG PA63, they are different guns that fire the same round.

By throw down i meant i really wouldnt worry about if it got scratched up or if somebody did happen to steal it out of my car i wouldnt have a lot of money invested in it.

Re: Anybody know anything about this gun?
gigady gigady alllll right!!!!! No my little sister doesnt like the 45 so the 9 short round wouldnt scare her off from shooting.
Re: Anybody know anything about this gun?
The 9mm Mak can kick a fair bit in the straight blowback pistols it is normally chambered for (including the PA-63). The PA-63 has a bit of a rep for recoil, partly due to the aluminum frame. For $100 though, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
If the 45 she dislikes is a full-size gun, the PA-63 is pretty much guaranteed to kick just as hard.

Re: Anybody know anything about this gun?
I bought a brand new PA-63 in the early 90s when "Maks" were becoming fairly common.
("Mak" meaning a Makarov pistol or one that chambers the 9x18 round)
The pistol itself was superb (in a crude com-bloc military kinda way) and functioned 100%
though the double-action was quite stiff.
I was somewhat disappointed at that time of the available ammo. The only stuff around common was cheapo Chinese/Norinco fodder. As I said,it did function 100% but the ballistics was less than stellar.
Before they were common, the Makarov round had always been described in Smallarms/Firearms
type journals-textbooks (Jane's,Ian Hogg etc.) as being "in the middle between .380 and 9x19mm" in power. I found the 9x18Mak rounds was right at .380 in power range.
95 grains at 950-1000fps. I believe there is more choices now.
