We have by now all heard about the Robbery at a bank in the Kroger Store in Houston, see below
A woman bank employee was shot and wounded in the leg during the robbery of a bank branch inside a west Houston grocery store today.
A single robber fired at least two shots in robbery around 1:20 p.m. at the First Convenience Bank branch inside the Kroger in the 9900 block of Westheimer, authorities said. The other shot broke a water pipe, leaving a mess in the store.
He drove off in what is believed to a be a stolen SUV.

Find cover and observe as much as you can. Be prepared to defend yourself, or possibly someone else. Assist the person shot if nobody else has while having someone call 911 or call 911 if nobody else has and they are receiving help already.

Slice, it may come as a surprise that the FBI is in full agreement with you. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, here's the link:Man with gun shooting seems to me he's a threat to those around me and me since i am there and could have taken a bullet that bounced and wounded or worse killed me why i am i not taking out the threat .???? Your biggest problem in this situation is you don't really know if the robber is alone or his backup is standing behind you holding a gun in his hand waiting to backup the shooter.
When you got to shoot, shoot. Don't talk.

Furthermore, other CHL's who may be in the store don't know who you are either.TheReverend wrote:Your biggest problem in this situation is you don't really know if the robber is alone or his backup is standing behind you holding a gun in his hand waiting to backup the shooter.
DUCK and COVER, call 911 and take notes. We are not the law.

Re: Bank Robbery @ Kroger store
I have one minor change to your statement.............."I would hope to shoot and STOP the criminal"........Stopping the threat is our goal, not killing them. I don't have a CHL to save the world and kill all bad guys.........I have a CHL to protect myself and my family.vinnier6 wrote:i dont understand why we have the same what if's and what would i do q&a'a everytime there is a situation that happend on the news....

In the situation described I personally would find cover, call 911, and have my weapon accessible if I need to defend myself or family............and this is my mindset I have engrained in my head for a situation in which I'm not in direct danger and have other options. If the gun is your first option every time and your MINDSET is to shoot and kill then I hope you start saving money to pay for your legal bills. You're right, we don't know exactly how we'll react but that is why these "what ifs" on this forum are important to discuss and be used to develop what actions you would take. Now if the robber decided to go on some sort of shooting rampage targeting innocent people and not the shooting at the ceiling then my actions would most definently change........I would engage and stop the threat.

It depends.

What Byron said. I think one huge variable is that when given this scenario, each one of us visualizes ourselves in line at our own local store, which has a different layout to the bank area than each other. Sure there are similarities but each location provides a different tactical picture in our hypothetical model and that creates a greater variation in our specific answers.
So yeah... it depends.

Re: Bank Robbery @ Kroger store
I live like three blocks from this Kroger, am very familiar with the layout, and I still say that the people who have a first reaction of starting a gunfight in the middle of a busy grocery store are nuts. Imagine any grocery store layout. How exactly are you going to line up a shot that doesn't put shoppers or employees in the line of fire? The guy robbing the bank shot at the floor and still managed to hit somebody.Morgan wrote:What Byron said. You are also running a huge risk pulling out a gun during a bank robbery and shooting towards the bank that someone is going to think you are an accomplice, drawing attention to you and either making you a huge target or getting shot yourself.
Lay low, call the cops, and stay out of the way. If the guy was randomly putting bullets in shoppers, that would be a different story.

Excellent point...........distance from the threat and available cover are two variables that come to mind.Morgan wrote:What Byron said.
