Thought this was funny...

Most CHL/LEO contacts are positive, how about yours? Bloopers are fun, but no names please, if it will cause a LEO problems!

Thought this was funny...

when i first got my CHL in 2001, I got pulled over on my way to camp with my wife at port aransas. on the highway, doing checks for a new law that was put into affect that said you must slow down 20 mph below speed limit when passing an officer on a highway.

anyways, got pulled over by highway patrol. never been pulled over before while carrying. had my 9mm on my hip. told my wife to keep her hands in the open as i figured the officer knew i had a CHL by my plates (figured it shows in the computer).

anyways, my wife got paranoid. puts her hands on the dash :) i immediatly give the officer my card and he asks if i'm carrying. "yes sir".

officer - "Where?"

me - "on my right hip sir"

officer - "looks uncomfortable... (smiles) what kind of gun is that?"

me - "baby eagle 9mm sir"

officer - "wow! nice! mind if i see it??"

me " ummm, i don't want to reach for my weapon... feels weird"

officer "haha... how bout this... i walk back to my car, you take it out, unload it, and put it on the dash"

me - "ok... whatever you say"

officer - comes back to truck "wow... really nice" (picks up gun and inspects... ) "have a great day... be safe... thanks for evening the score with the badguys"

Swear to God... wife and i were kinda shocked. pretty fun looking back at it :)

You should have asked him about his carry!

hah... i was nervous enough. you should have seen me when he asked to see my gun. all i could think about was ending up on the news.....

"A san angelo man tried to pull a gun on a THP officer today... which ended in a bloodshed" i was kinda weirded out at first.

Thanks for sharing. That's a great memory to keep. It always nice to see LEO's who don't think CHL is a bad thing. :tiphat:

I would use caution with this idea!

There are some cops out there who really value their duty gun......some of them might even start to tell you stories about where and when it was purchased and what a good luck charm it has been and the memories associated with it. One lucky fellow I know actually carries a Glock 17 that was purchased for him by his girlfriend (now his wife) while they were dating. Competitive use, schools, and concealed carry would likely make its way into the conversation.

This could be very time consuming if you are on your way to work. :smilelol5:
