Re: ammo on sale
Thusday April 8 Cabela's In Buda, TX has plenty of .380. I can't remember if it was Monarch but it was 17.99Bx/50, WWB 18.99Bx/50 and Aquila JHP about $25-27.00Bx/50. Dick's in San Marcos - NONE. Didn't check the Academy Stores on I-35. GT Distrubuting in Austin - ZERO .380.

Re: ammo on sale
Cabelas in Buda, TX still had plenty of .380 ammo in stock about 4pm today. I picked up several boxes (no limit) - S&B 92g @ 17.99/bx-50cnt.
There are thus far two boxes (literally, the boxes & plastic trays themselves) I've found extremely space efficient for storage & transport - Winchester 92 grain and now this 92 grain S&B (assuming it'll fire fine (as the Winchester) in Ruger LCP). I'm told that Winchester manufactures the S&B rounds as well - explains the similarities in box sizes and grains (92).
I'm just tired of running/calling all over the place for the Winchester 95g 100cnt @ Wal-marts (was $34 now $32). Stocked up on these and save some stress, time, and gas! Plus, I'm just so thrilled at these 50cnt boxes that cram the .380's in there as tight as possible - and even divide up the 50cnt in 2 25 trays (like the 25cnt tray of the Hornady Critical Defense rounds) - perfect! The worst I've found in size of box are those Lawman Bluebox rounds - tray leaves bullets pretty far apart in those oversize boxes.
Anyway, best of luck to those looking for .380 wounds. Over last few weeks, there's 3 places I've seen .380 Training/Target ammo showing up fairly frequently: 1) Academy, 2) Dicks, & Cabelas.
Academy & Cabelas have been the only ones selling these tiny, space-efficient boxes - both types in .92 grain.

Re: ammo on sale
Just stopped by WalMart - Irving at lunch. Plenty of .40 and 9mm - they had four cases of 10 boxes each Federal FMJ 115g -9mm for $9.47/box of 50 rds (well, minus four boxes that I NEEDED ).
This was the first time I have stopped at this WM - usually shop at Tollway and GWB Tollway in Plano.
Keep hoping to see one of those big yellow smiley faces with "Price Drop" at the 9mm.. ..well I can dream!

Can't say I'll be looking for a .380 wound, the wound I already have is enough! I'll keep looking for the rounds, though! Sorry I couldn't help myself!G26TR wrote:

Re: ammo on sale
Should anyone spot .41 Magnum ammo online or in the Houston/SE Texas area, I'd appreciate a heads up.
Sportsman's Guide has Remington green box for $55.07/50, but that's the best I've found.
Georgia Arms has the mild stuff, 210gr @ 800fps. I may wind up ordering some of that for my snubbie.
Otherwise, I'd like to locate a supply of full power stuff for my Marlin carbine, Redhawk, and Blackhawk.
If you thought .380 was scarce..............

Re: ammo on sale
Yeah, that's the same stuff SPG has for a couple bucks less. However, If I make it to the show and he has some there, I might bite.
I know it has to do with demand and production quantities, but I hate to pay $20 more than the same box sells for in .44 Magnum.
Thanks for your help.

Re: ammo on sale
Bass Pro in Altoona, Iowa had all flavors of ammo today, INCLUDING 4 boxes of .380 Remington green box 50 cartridges. I left all 4 boxes on the shelf because they were marked $33.97 each. The salesperson was very surprised that there was any on the shelf.

Re: ammo on sale
Date and time of sighting: Sunday, 4/18/10, ~ 500 PM.
Location: Wal-Mart, FM1171/West Main St, Lewisville, Denton County, TX.
The ammo counter was chock full of most pistol, rifle, and shotgun ammo.
They had .17, .22, .223, .25, .32, .357 Magnum, .38 Special, 9MM, .40, .410 Judge, .44 Magnum.
You would have to bring a trailer to buy up all the 9MM and .40 they had!! Federal Premium brand.
Only $9.47 for a 50 round box of 9MM.
No .380 or .45. Those were the only calibers that they did not have.
What was really interesting about this ammo cabinet trip was talking with Christopher, the Wal-Mart
employee in the ammo department. He was very knowledgable about grains, power, etc. of various
calibers. His dad had worked for the Dallas PD as a firearms expert, and while there he test fired
the .38 Colt Cobra with which Jack Ruby killed Lee Harvey Oswald. Wow.
IIRC, Christopher's personal gun is a <1960's?> Smith and Wesson, model 28, 6" barrel, in .357.
His hottest loads are .357's in 180 grains.

Re: ammo on sale
Walmart in RoundRock off 79 had every caliber, even .380 and .45. There was at least 10 boxes of .380 and 20 boxes of .45.
Re: ammo on sale
If you have a need for Federal .40 JHP, Walmart in Kemah is bursting at the seams. I would estimate ~40 boxes for a little over $22/box. Plenty of .40 FMJ, 410 Judge and .45. Only three boxes of Remington 9mm.

Re: ammo on sale
I've asked a couple of the retail folks who work the counter this question and they've told me they usually get ammo a couple/few times a week. Here in the Clear Lake area, I've seen Federal 9mm at 2-3 different WallyWorlds in the last week. My best results have been with the stores near 45 & Shaver and the store on Fairmont.Bill wrote:I was at 3 WM's and no 9mm, plenty of 40, does anyone know when they receive their shipments. Re: ammo on sale
Just got back from the Walmart in Alvin. They had 3 cases (3000 rounds) of Federal 45 on the floor and about ready to go in the case. $15.97 a box of 50. They also had plenty of other calibers but no 380.
