Welcome to the forum.
I'm with you on Taurus being a good value pistol.
Mine has over 1500 rounds through it and no issues at all.
I'm not an amateur gunsmith like some members here, so
a trouble free gun is of paramount importance to me.
You mentioned that your 2nd Taurus is a PT140.
What's your first Taurus semi-auto model?
SIA
WOW! Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. All us gun nuts sure are a friendly bunch
First, I grew up shooting... A LOT. Mainly though it was shotguns... skeet fear me. I shot rifles occassionally but not a lot. I never owned a pistol though until a few months ago. I was in the gun store and I have always wanted a pistol. I read and researched and looked and thought about it for a long time actually...
Then I went to the gun shop and picked up probably 100 different pistols just looking for the right fit for my hand. My hands are not huge so sometimes the grips on those big 45's were too wide for me.
Finally I picked up and handled and Taurus 24/7 Pro DS .40. I like .40. Its my cal of choice. The 24/7 Pro DS felt really good and it was around 1/2 price of some of the other contenders. I figured with a warranty like they have and all that... this could be a very good start. Out came the credit card and I took it home.
I really liked the feel of the gun. Eventually when I win the lotto I will buy some other guns as well...and I will build an nice little addition on to the house for a nice gun room...and build myself an indoor gun range....but aside from all that...it has worked out very very well.
A little while later I decided to take my CHL class which I did (waiting on the DPS now)...and I figured I needed something a bit smaller if I am going to have it on my person...with .40 being my top choice of caliber I went shopping again. Before I went shopping the only thing I decided was that I wanted a .40. I was not biased although based on my 24/7 I had a good impression. I did the whole 9 yards again.
I left with a PT 140. Size of the weapon plus the capacity...and it was in my preferred caliber....there wasn't much else to even compare it to...if I was willing to go down to 9mm that would have made the choice a lot harder...
Of course there are numerous other types of guns I like as well (CZ comes to mind). My dad has a CZ and I really like it. But for price and overall performance and (so far) very good reliability...and of course the whole lifetime warranty thing... so far both guns have been great. At least 1000 plus rounds through the 24/7 and maybe 200 through the PT140 and we are still looking good.
