Please Pray for My Family

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

cmrs2k:

Prayers for you and your son will be made from me to
God.

I have been where you are and it's not a good place.
Usually divorces happen when one spouse wants it to end,
while the other wants it to continue.

Make the best deal that you can with your divorce lawyer,
with respect to finances, property, but most importantly
of all - as much child custody as you can get.

Do not trust your ex to honor anything that is not in writing
in the divorce agreement. She's not on your team any longer.

Treasure your son and never speak ill of his mother. Do every-
thing with him, and go places. Talk about how life works.

See the movie "Second Hand Lions" with Robert Duvall and
Michael Caine. It takes place in an un-named TX town. It's
about a boy with a ditzy mother who becomes a man while
living with 2 eccentric, but loving, uncles. Fathering a child
can take diverse paths. By fathering, I mean "raising", not
just conceiving.

I would like to think that your son was conceived in love,
and although that has changed, enjoy that you are still
a parent.

God makes our paths straight, but some of those straight
paths go over mountain cliffs and down into Death Valley.

"Sons are a heritage from the Lord,
children a reward from him."

Psalm 127:3.

"This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it."

Psalm 118:24

I wish I had better advice. It'll be hard for a while.

I am so sorry to hear this. I pray God will grant you peace and strength to endure this trial.

If I may, I find Psalm 91 to be comforting and reassuring in troubling times.

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

-Psalm 91:1-2

God bless you.
Psalm 91:2

I apologize for starting this thread, requesting everyone's prayers, then dropping off the grid as I have.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers and their advice. There are several people here who have sent me private messages offering words of encouragement and advice. Your help has made a significant difference for me.

Fortunately, I believe that the process of my divorce is almost over. Agreements have been reached and we are now waiting on her lawyer to provide the paperwork to mine for verification and signatures. Assuming all goes well, we sign, make the required appearances, and then as soon as the magic 60th day rolls around, we are done.

I have learned more, in this short section of my life than I ever could have imagined possible. I also found my relationship with God has found its way into depths that I did not know existed. Every case is different but for me, an unexpected "divorce attack" has made my life significantly better, both directly and indirectly.

Thank you again, to all of the wonderful people here. You have helped me through a very difficult time and I emerged improved as a result.

Late to this, but you have my prayers and I'm glad to hear that you're seeing some positive come out of this.
