I'm really leaning toward an STI Trojan, Kimber Tactical Custom II/Desert Warrior/Raptor or even a DoubleStar. All checkn in at 1300.00 or less but if I can get a nice, quality gun for 600.00-700.00(like the PT1911) then I'd deffinitly be open to that. But if I'm gonna spend that much money I want to get somethin good in return. If I have to get a Kimber or STI and drop a grand or more I will. Just curious. It's a pretty sweet lookin rig though with the aftermarket grips!!!
My son has a PT1911, and it is a good pistol for the price. We had one minor issue with it — a broken slide stop lever pin — but a drop in part I happened to have on hand (long story) fixed it. Other than that, it has been pretty reliable. It is very accurate. It has a nice trigger. I don't like the Heinie type sights, but my son loves them and shoots the pistol extremely well.

On the other hand, I bought a used Springfield Loaded Parkerized from a member of this forum for $50 less than we paid for my son's Taurus. The Springfield trigger needed some work, but other than that it seems a more solidly built pistol... ...just my impression. My son did a trigger job on the Springfield. Several members of this forum have handled it and pronounced it one of the very best 1911 triggers they've ever seen. So you might want to consider buying used if you are looking at 1911s. You can often get superior quality for a cheaper price, and unless the gun has been beaten up by a careless owner, 1911s will last beyond your ability to shoot them. I still occasionally shoot my father's Ithaca 1911A1 that was his sidearm in WW2. It was made in 1943, making it 77 years old at this time. The parts are all original, and it shoots just fine.

^ This. I bought a one year old Kimber Custom II with night sights (at Cabela's no less!) for $650 and it has been dead reliable. Check into the gently-used market and you may be surprised by what you find. As a bonus, the break-in period has likely been done for you!

Just had the slide & frame tuff-coated on my RIA . I thought I'd toss up a pic.

I have a Wilson trigger thats gonna be going in. And I think I want to put night sights on it and make it my night stand gun.

Haha, awesome. I missed it the first time around. Thanks for reposting. Needmoore needs to work on some type of extra rock holder too. Three rounds just doesn't seem like much to me! :)

Oh, and I don't recall if I ever posted up in this thread, so attached is a pic of my daily carry:

EMP .40
Gerber knife
Fenix TK12 flashlight (LOVE THIS THING!!!!)

I still need to order a mag holder so I can have at least one extra mag on me.

David carried five, but the first shot was all he needed to stop Goliath.

Hey, nothing wrong with trading up.
I started out with a couple of OK guns and traded up to better guns and soon will have great guns.

The wife and I both have P238s for bugs. For your info E150GT the leather holder for a small whetstone works very well for a mag carrier. Slips right into your pocket and keeps the trash out of your spare mag. If you don't have one a cheap stone with pouch is only about 5 dollars and you get a free whetstone with your mag carrier.

Anybody know if you can get an ambi safety for that. I like the idea of all my firearms functioning like a 1911, but being a lefty...
