Why are y'all making this so difficult? The guy just asked if his wife could buy a gun. She failed the 4473 questionairre. Go back to Square One and start over.
Of course, she can buy a gun...if she can legally buy a gun. As the Owner, she can let others (hubby, et al) shoot it, if she chooses.
Good Grief! Where did all of these jailhouse lawyers come from?

Federal law specifically uses the word transfer. They cleverly made it illegal to pretend to give a gift when it is really illicit gun-running.
The same language also made interstate gifts illegal. Whether that was inadvertent or not, I don't know. I wasn't paying attention in 1968.

But neither party was an FFL. There was no 4473 to fail.Oldgringo wrote:Why are y'all making this so difficult? The guy just asked if his wife could buy a gun. She failed the 4473 questionairre. Go back to Square One and start over.

The seller was being overly cautious. His only concern was whether he believed the wife could legally own a firearm.

I didn't see anyone making anything so difficult until...well, until you pointed it out.Oldgringo wrote:Why are y'all making this so difficult? The guy just asked if his wife could buy a gun. She failed the 4473 questionairre. Go back to Square One and start over.
