Comp Tac MTAC, will start wearing undershirts due to the sweat and leather sticking to my love handles.

I used the Gurka strut, but now I'm using it with just the large belt clip.Stupid wrote:Which strut do you use, Chas?Charles L. Cotton wrote:Comp-Tac Infidel year round.

I wear a Comp-Tac year round. I wear an undershirt all the time and it really makes it comfortable.

Being a total newbie to this stuff, I ordered an ActivePro Defender - http://www.activeprogear.com/defender.html - with the thumb break. Got it in today and tried it on. I think it will be comfortable, but time will tell. My Sig P226 fits in it well, and I found the thumb break easy to pop loose when practicing drawing. I was surprised at how light the gun felt, but sitting down was interesting. I'll have to try different positions to see what works for me.

I use the CB SuperTuck (horsehide) year 'round with a M&P 9c and occasionally a Don Hume IWB H715 when I switch to my S&W 642. Either is certainly more comfortable with an undershirt. I wear Under Armour 'Heat Gear' and have found that if I go to a larger size (XXL, when I normally would wear a Lg or XL), it is more comfortable and doesn't seem as hot.

DM Bullard makes some great leather IWB holsters. I use his holsters & belts almost exclusively... doesn't hurt that he's a Texan located in Azle either! Really good stuff, I highly recommend his products.

I agree about David Bullard's work...I have one of his holsters for my Taurus PT145. Unfortunately, although the holster is top-notch, the pistol is very thick with its double-stack .45 ACP magazine (as well as HEAVY), I don't carry it much. It's very tuckable, but the bulge is way more noticeable than with my other concealed carry options.Barron76 wrote:DM Bullard makes some great leather IWB holsters. Lately I've been carrying a S&W J-Frame in a "Bodhi" IWB holster made by Monica Kuehn (another Texan). The J-Frame just "disappears" under a t-shirt, and it's easy to remove the holster or put it back on without getting completely undressed. This is usually what I wear if I'm wearing shorts. Monica's website can be found here: http://monicakuehnleather.blogspot.com/ Just like David Bullard, she's worth the wait.
If I'm wearing jeans, I'll still carry my Kimber Pro 1911 in a Crossbreed Supertuck. You can't beat it for comfort, but since I have an all-steel 1911, it does require a pretty sturdy belt.

Re: Which IWB holster do you use during the summer time?
I have a Crossbreed Supertuck for my Walther P99C but so far haven't used it much because I find it easier to slip my J-frame into its DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster than to fiddle around putting the Supertuck clips onto my Beltman belt before I even put my pants on. The IWB seems additional dressing effort whereas the pocket holster just requires I slip it in my pocket when I need it. I have to confess though that I I have ordered a Kholster for my full size 1911. If I have to dress around the gun, I am going to perform an experiment to see whether carrying a full size pistol might work for me. The Kholster is a lot cheaper than the Supertuck but is broadly similar. I'll post some feedback after I've tried it.

I have one of DM Bullard's holsters that I picked up from a forum member a while back and I can attest to its fit and quality.Barron76 wrote:DM Bullard makes some great leather IWB holsters. As to the most comfortable holster I've used so far, I'd have to say it's the Crossbreed. Mine is just cowhide but it's more comfy than my Comp-Tac MTAC and I don't notice the sweating either like I do with the MTAC. Both are very nice holsters... but Crossbreed's SuperTuck gets my vote.

Re: Which IWB holster do you use during the summer time?
Super Tuck year around. But I have added a piece of leather to the back of it and extended the leather coverage to include the grip. Seems I have too much acid in my system. I was eating the aluminum off my Colt grip. I am going to contact Crossbreed to see if they can offer an extended version to keep any part of gun from contacting skin.
