Let me know what you think of Cedar Ridge it wasn't my favorite place.

FYI: It' Bexar Community," rather than "Bexar County."FightinAggieCHL wrote:There's a place I know of. It's a little further away that most of the other gun clubs that y'all are talking about, but I think that the range fees and the people are more than worth the drive. Take I-10E towards Houston to Trainer Hale Rd., right on Trainer Hale, and a few miles down, on the left is a sign for Bexar County Shooting Range. They have Trap/Skeet/Pistol/25 yd rifle/100 yd rifle. If you limit the number of targets used, then you can go and blaze for around $10-$20 or so. No price per gun, and I don't believe there is any price per person. My dad and I are both members, so we encourage anyone who wants a decent place to shoot to look into it. I live near 1604 and 281, so it's a decent drive for me, but I find it's worth it every time.
I'm in agreement here, A Place to Shoot is a very laid-back range and I'm comfortable taking my 12 year old son there with me. Biggest problem for me is it's so far away, about 30 miles each way but $10 lets me shoot as long as I want so I'll put up with the travel. When I don't have the time to drive across town or if the weather's bad I just go on over to the Bass Pro range, only about 10 minutes from my house and not a bad place to get a quick shooting fix in. I know this is an old thread but just wanted to add my 2 cents.mactex wrote:My current range is A Place to Shoot. With their target system you don't have to worry about calling a cease fire since the target moves up/down range on a wire. No brass gets spit at me from other shooters since they have dividers between stalls. My only negative, and it is only a problem for reloaders, is that they have a grate that your brass falls down into. If you reload take a tarp or sheet to lay down over the grate.
I was there last week and the grate is still there. The new owners are cleaning the place up though. It's looking much nicer than when I first started goingthere.DubiousDan wrote:I've been told that the new owners have filled in that area with concrete and the grate is no longer there.mactex wrote:My current range is A Place to Shoot. I haven't been there in a while I guess, didn't know it was under new ownership. I'll have to see if I can make the time to get there to check it out. Hope they are working on fixing the lanes on the pistol range that weren't usable. That was really the only negative thing I found about the place, too many lanes where the cable was broken or otherwise inoperable.mactex wrote:I was there last week and the grate is still there.
