Happy Father's Day
Well someone's got to do it - - - Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there. Remember any male can be a father it takes a MAN to be a dad. Also, why is it everyone takes mom out to eat on Mother's day but dad is expected to BBQ or grill on Father's Day????

Re: Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to all that are!
I think some more quotes are in order:
"A father is someone that holds your hand at the fair makes sure you do what your mother says holds back your hair when you are sick, and brushes that hair when it is tangled because mother is too busy.
Lets you eat ice cream for breakfast, but only when mother is away
He walks you down the aisle and tells you everything's gonna be ok
Fathers Day Quote by: Unknown
My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person....he believed in me.
Fathers Day Quote by: Jim Valvano
My father used to play with my brother and me in the yard. Mother would come out and say,
"You're tearing up the grass." "We're not raising grass," Dad would reply. "We're raising boys."
Fathers Day Quote by: Harmon Killebrew
I don't care how poor a man is; if he has family, he's rich.
Fathers Day Quote by: M*A*S*H, Colonel Potter
[I am a rich & blessed man indeed]
Blessed indeed is the man who hears many gentle voices call him father!
Fathers Day Quote by: Lydia M. Child, Philothea: A Romance, 1836
(my favorite): When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years.
Fathers Day Quote by: Mark Twain, "Old Times on the Mississippi" Atlantic Monthly, 1874"

Re: Happy Father's Day
Everyone should cherish their father (and mother). My father and I mutually pushed each other away due to stupid insignificant differences and remained out of touch for many years. One day I get notice that his health was failing and we were finally reunited at the hospital where he was receiving treatment. He was not the same man. He was declining rapidly and didn't recognize me. I can never be sure that he really knew who I was at that point.
Long story short, I missed out on years without a dad and regret it to this day.
If you have your dad, show him that you love him no matter what.

Re: Happy Father's Day
My father passed away more than forty years ago. Fortunately, we were on good terms when he died. He was the one who introduced me to guns and shooting. His wisdom remains with me to this day. Some of it has been passed on by my posts on this this forum. Happy Father's Day.USA1 wrote:If you have your dad, show him that you love him no matter what.

Re: Happy Father's Day
This is the first father's day I shall not be able to talk to my father (he passed away suddenly in February)and it hurts like heck.
Those that still have father's: treasure them.
Those that have lost father's:remember them
and those that are father's don't ever neglect the importance of your role.
and also on this day remember the Father we all have in heaven and Thank Him for the many blessings He grants us.

I lost my Dad in 1986, and I still miss him. I'll see him again someday.Kevinf2349 wrote:This is the first father's day I shall not be able to talk to my father (he passed away suddenly in February)and it hurts like heck.

Re: Happy Father's Day
This is an interesting day for me.
My "father" left when I was young, only have one memory of him at home and I know he was gone by time I started school. I was ok with that, he failed at life, it happens.
This morning I woke up to breakfast in bed from my Fiancée and her 9 year old boy. I've been in their lives for a year and he slips and calls me Dad every now and again. I understand he never had one, not even from day one. It's a roll I am unfamilar with, no experience to draw on so that will be interesting.
Any day now my daughter will be here (via the delivery room, not FedEx). I've never been much of a kid person, my sister lived with me for the last few years with her newborn daughter, that was interesting.
I've gone from taking care of my elderly mother for years to being alone for a very short time to a completely different adventure that took me from North Carolina to Texas.
I have nothing profound to say except is life is always interesting.
P.S. except to see a few guns for sale soon, life may be interesting, but the hospital is only interested in getting paid
